I was covered in blood!
My mind went blank for a moment. My whole body suddenly felt cold.
'Is this real?,' I thought, my mind racing.
I reached up with a trembling hand, touching my face, feeling the sticky warmth of the blood. The metallic smell of blood filled my nostrils, making me feel nauseous. I felt a cold sweat break out on my skin, a tingling sensation spreading across my body.
I looked down at my clothes, now stained red, and a wave of panic washed over me. I felt detached, as if I was watching a scene from a horror movie.
The girl's strange behavior had started to make sense. My gaze fell upon her, who now had a bit relaxed but still horrified expression.
She looked a bit confused seeing how I myself must have seemed to be confused to her. She now seemed to be calm, through still wary of me.
Her eyes wide open, reflecting both fear and bewilderment, with eyebrows raised high. Her mouth slightly open, as if she were about to speak but are too stunned to form words. Her furrowed brow indicated her confusion.
She finally spoke, "A-Aren't you a ghost?".
I tried to speak, but my throat was dry and my voice came out as a raspy whisper. "I-I don't know." The words felt foreign on my tongue, but that was of no importance to me for now.
I was too stunned from seeing myself covered up in blood. For once, I almost believed that I was a ghost and was afraid of myself.
The girl now stood up, no longer afraid of me. Her expression was now calm and her eyes looked at me with pity.
She said, "Were you perhaps, bullied? Your head seems to be bleeding and your body has marks of being hit... "
'Bullying?' I thought. I gave a more detailed glance to my body. It did have some cuts and wounds. But somehow, I knew it wasn't a case of bullying, but I decided to go on with that excuse.
Now that the situation was a bit calm, I looked around my surroundings. I was probably in a store room. I glanced at the place where I was lying down, unconscious. Even though I was drenched in blood, there were no traces of blood on the floor. 'How strange' I thought. It was creepy.
But what was I doing here? Why am I drenched in blood? Why do I have these cuts and wounds? And who is this girl?
As I was thinking of possible answers for the questions that had swarmed into my mind, I heard the girl's voice again. "Umm, I am sorry, my behavior earlier must have scared you. I am Maria, a student of class 9-B. And you are..?"
Suddenly, a wave of panic washed over me.
