Lily and Tina had found themselves at Kurts house. They were in his room, standing in starting positions. Kurt hit play on his ipod and the music began. They lip synced as the camera recorded them and Lily let out a laugh, when suddenly the music stopped. Kurt spun around, the others following. It was Kurts dad, Burt. He had a half confused half unimpressed look on his face. The worry was evident on Kurt's face as he took a deep breath.
"Dad." His voice shook. "You're home early."
"Deadliest Catch is on." His dad replied. "What are you wearing?" He asked taking a few steps closer.
"It's a unitard. Guys wear them to, uh, workout nowadays." Kurt panicked. "Do sports. They wick sweat from the body."
Burt pinged the strap of his outfit and nodded.
"F-f-f-football." Tina stated.
Lily and Kurt gave her a weird glance before rolling with it.
"Yeah," Kurt turned back to his dad. "All the guys in football wear them. They're jock chic."
Burt nodded.
"Totally. Kurt's on the football team now. He's the kicker, that's the smallest guy on the field, right?" Lily hastily added.
Kurt's face drops but he's able to keep it together momentarily.
"Yeah. Lily and Tina were just helping me with some conditioning work."
"Hmm. Really?" Burt seemed somewhat convinced. "You know, I played in JC before i busted up my knee, popping wheelies on my third bike."
Kurt let out a slight chuckle.
"Cool. I guess we'll have something to talk about then."
"So one of you two his girlfriend?" Burt further questioned.
Kurt hesitated before slapping Tina on the back and pulling her close, to which she gave a unconvincing smile.
"But i'm not ready to be exclusive yet." He added.
"Alright," Burt nodded. "Just keep the music down. I can't hear myself think up here."
He turned and started to walk back up the stairs but stopped.
"And, hey Kurt, be sure to get me a ticket to your first game."
Kurt nodded feverishly as his smile faded. ____ The New Directions were gathered in the choir room as Mr Schue handed out sheet music. Rachel took one look before screwing her nose up at it.
"Excuse me, this isn't the right key."
"No, it's actually the right key." Mr Schue replied.
Rachel shook her head.
"No, no, this is the alto part."
"Yep, Tina's doing the solo." Mr Schue nodded.
Val gave Tina a nudge and a congratulatory smile, as Rachel gave a look of disgust.
