Ranpo

"EDOGAWA!"

Her voice pierced through the chaos, cutting straight to my core. I turned toward the sound, and what I saw made my blood run cold. Time seemed to slow, every movement around me a blur except for the scene unfolding right in front of me.

There was a loud shot, a deafening crack that reverberated through the room, and then—I felt it. The warm liquid splashed onto my face, sticky and thick. For a moment, I couldn't process what had just happened. My heart pounded in my chest, faster and louder than ever before. I couldn't breathe.

As I looked ahead, I saw Tanizaki's face twisted in horror, his eyes wide and filled with disbelief. Emi, Y/N's best friend, was frozen in shock, her mouth slightly open as if caught in a silent scream.

Then, I looked down.

My knees buckled beneath me as I collapsed to the ground, my sleeves stained with blood. But it wasn't my blood. The warm, crimson liquid was hers. Y/N was leaning against my chest, her body trembling, her breathing ragged. My vision blurred as I struggled to comprehend what had just happened.

"Y/N..." I barely managed to utter her name, my voice a fragile whisper. She looked up at me, her eyes filled with pain but also something else—an apologetic look that broke what little resolve I had left.

"I'm sorry......Ranpo." she whispered, her voice so faint it almost didn't reach me. But I heard it, and it struck me like a knife to the heart. She said my name—my first name—for the very first time, and it shattered me.

Her smile was weak, her breaths coming in shallow gasps, each one a painful reminder that time was slipping away from us. I could feel my body shaking uncontrollably, my mind desperately trying to deny what was happening. The colors seemed to drain from the world around me, leaving everything in a dull, lifeless gray.

I knew the others were screaming, shouting, but it was all distant, muffled, like I was underwater. The only sound I could truly hear was the pounding of my own heart, echoing in my ears as I held Y/N closer, as if that could somehow keep her here with me.But the blood kept flowing, and her strength was fading.

This wasn't supposed to happen. Not to her. Not like this. I could feel the tears welling up, blurring my vision even more, but I didn't care. I just wanted to hold her, to keep her safe, to somehow make this all go away.

But it wouldn't. And as I looked into her eyes, I could see it—the light, the spark that made her who she was, slowly dimming.

"Y/N, please... don't..." I choked on the words, barely able to speak as my throat tightened with emotion. But she just smiled up at me, that same smile that always made everything better, even now, when everything was falling apart.
