The sky above the city was a canvas of pastel pink and orange, that kind of sunset that made everything below it seem softer. At the edge of the rooftop of an old, abandoned building, a single figure sat, eyes fixed on the horizon. The wind played with his hair, carrying with it the distant sounds of the bustling busy streets below, seemingly a world miles away from this quiet sanctuary in the sky.

In his hand, he held a small, crumpled wrapper. Its bright yellow colour faded from days of being carried around. He didn't need to open it to know the taste of the sour lemon candy inside. The memory was as sharp and vivid as the first time the girl handed him one, her laughter ringing in his ears, her eyes full of a light that could make even the sourest moments of life sweet.

"Ack!! Why is it so sour?" The guy's face grimaced to the sour taste of the candy.

"Hahahaha!!" The girl bursted out. She couldn't contain her laughter after seeing the guy's face.

"It's okay, you will get used to the sweetness of the sour candy after this." She said, still chuckling. He gives her a look of disbelief as he tries to get used to the sour taste.

He closed his eyes, letting the last rays of sunlight warm his face. The rooftop had been their escape, a place where time seemed to stand still, where the world and all its troubles felt a little bit smaller. But now, it was just him, sitting alone with a heart full of memories and sky full of goodbyes.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, he knew he wouldn't be returning to this place again. Their summer had ended, but somehow, he felt at peace. He could almost hear her voice on the wind, reminding him that even the most fleeting moments can leave a mark on your soul.

With a final glance at the empty rooftop, he gets up to leave, the wrapper slipping from his fingers and drifting away, carried off by the same breeze that had once carried their laughter.

And somewhere, beyond the orange skies, he knew she was waiting for him.
