Jennie and Roseanne arrived to brunch soon after picking Richard up. They had taken longer than planned because Richard had needed another change before they left the Manobans.
Unfortunately for Jennie, it was her turn to change him. But nothing could dampen her mood.
Their morning had been spent squeezing in some vigorous lovemaking before picking up their son, so Jennie was feeling on top of the world.
Jennie and Roseanne managed to scoop a seat right by the window, sunny in the late morning light. Jennie loved looking at the way that the sun brought out the silvery quality of Roseanne's platinum blonde hair. It reminded her of the way Roseanne had looked earlier that morning, straddling her in bed, toned muscles and delicate features illuminated and shadowed in the morning sun. Her hair had glittered like it was made of silver and gold. Her bright blue eyes had never seemed more alive.
Right now Roseanne's face had lit up as Richard played with a fistful of her silky hair. She didn’t even seem to mind when he tried to shove it into his mouth, covering it in slobber.
“You missed him, huh?” Jennie asked, smiling at her girlfriend.
Roseanne looked up at Jennie, pouting adorably.
“It’s just so hard not having him around,” Roseanne said, “As much as I enjoyed having some adults-only time with you.”
“I worried about him a little,” Jennie confessed, “I know Stella and Henry are more than capable… But I’m so protective of our little boy.”
Roseanne smiled at her.
“You’re so sweet,” Roseanne beamed.
They shared a plate of waffles, feeling very much loved up. As they finished their brunch, Jennie shot Roseanne with what she hoped was a cute look.
“So… You’re not even going to give me a hint about what this project is that you’re working on?” Jennie asked, cocking her head to one side.
Roseanne leaned back in her chair, crossing her legs and flipping her shimmering hair over her shoulder. She looked at Jennie with glittering eyes.
“Mon amour, you are very cute, but I can’t ruin the surprise,” Roseanne said with a smile, “What I can say, is that it’s all coming together. Do you think you would be able to get some time off for your birthday?”
“Sure,” Jennie answered, even more mystified, “Not even a slight clue?”
Roseanne smiled serenely.
“We need to travel for the surprise,” Roseanne said, “But it has all worked out quite well.”
Jennie looked suspiciously at Roseanne, her mind whirring into overdrive. She tried not to overthink it. The last thing she wanted was to figure out the surprise and ruin seeing Roseanne's reaction. The best part about Roseanne surprising her was how much the blonde lit up with excitement.
They finished up their brunch. Roseanne settled Richard into his little pram outside while Jennie settled up the bill. Roseanne and Richard were going to spend the afternoon working on Jennie's birthday surprise, while Jennie was going to stop past and visit Lisa. She had owled the redhead when she had woken up, curious to find out what had happened the previous night with Amelie and Sophie.
She stepped out, kissing Roseanne gently on the lips. She planted a kiss on Richard's forehead, who gurgled and kicked his legs in response.
“Okay, so no following us, right?” Roseanne asked, fixing Jennie with a stern look, “I know how curious you can get.”
