Trrimmmg..!
Everything around her was dark. But even so, she could see him.
Trrrimmmmgg..!!
She could see his weakened body lying on the ground, lifeless, with blue eyes staring at her. And she could hear the words that passed from his dry, trembling lips.
'You let me die.'
She could feel her hands wet with blood. She remembers how she tried to break the ice with all her strength as she watched his face turn increasingly blue. She remembers screaming for help, but it seemed like no one heard her. And if they did, they chose to ignore the screams of a street girl.
'It was all because of you.'
Sora let out a dry laugh. Raising a trembling hand to her mouth, she took a drag from the cigarette that was nestled between her fingers and then exhaled. Dressed only in a T-shirt and pajama shorts, she was on the floor leaning against the foot of her bed, not caring how cold the floor beneath her was.
'I died because of you.'
She took another drag of her cigarette.
Her eyes were bright red. Maybe from the irritation of having spent yet another sleepless night, or from the noticeable wet trails that marked her cheeks. She was sitting in front of a mirror. And there she could see his reflection. He was right there in front of her, sitting in the same position as her. And what terrified her the most were his eyes. They stared at her with disappointment. They blamed her. And she knew she deserved it.
Trrrriiiiimmmg..!!!
She took another drag of her cigarette, not caring how the lit tip burned her fingers with each drag. She could hear the harsh words that corpse murmured so that only she, and only she, could hear them in the solitude of her room. She then closed her eyes.
Sora resisted letting out a cry when she felt her hair being caressed. She tried to ignore how the hand that passed through her hair had a skeletal shape, and let herself be embraced. She tried to pretend that she was still a child lying on her father's chest, listening to another one of his stories while he made her fall asleep with caresses in her hair.
' You can rest now. I'll be here tomorrow.' Oh, how she wished those words weren't just a figment of her imagination.
Trrrrrrriiiinnnnmmmmmggg..!!!!
That damn noise.
I love you, snowflakes.
Trrrrrrinnnnnmmgggg..!!-- The clock was thrown against the wall, falling to pieces on the floor.
Sora opened her eyes, and this time, her reflection was the only one staring at her in the mirror. Her father was no longer there. The girl dropped her head with a sigh. He was never there.
Taking one last drag of her cigarette, she finally crushed the lit part against the flat part of the ashtray that was next to her, adding it to the collection of cigarettes that were already spent there. Rubbing her burning eyes, she decided to get off the floor and get ready for work. And as she headed to the bathroom, she decided to ignore how spotless her bed was, untouched by her. And she preferred it that way.
Opening the door to her bathroom, she looked for the light switch, and when she found it, she pressed it down, allowing the light to envelop the dark room. Sora groaned as the light dazzled her eyes, making the burning in them even worse. Still half dazed, she walked to the bathroom while stripping off her nightclothes. Stepping over the pile of clothes that she had piled at her feet, she opened the transparent bathroom door and entered, closing the door behind her.
