𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐅 Ares's laughter and the chiming bell was heard upon entering the small diner. The odd and annoyed looks Ares received when his laughter boomed through the walls going completely over his head."Guess this is the right place." Percy said solemnly, looking at the God that was waiting for them.
All Percy received was an annoyed huff from Clarisse, the girl walking ahead of them towards where her father sat. The whole walk, which was quite a long walk, Clarisse had been silent; gnawing at her cheeks and twisting the silver rings that surrounded her tan fingers. Rory had never seen her like that.
Looking at the state Clarisse was, all Rory wanted to do was comfort her; tell her it would be okay. But she couldn't. All because a certain hotheaded girl kept pushing her away. So Rory left it at that. She stopped bother Clarisse after she snapped at her for the fifth time, stopping in her tracks to walk with the younger trio rather than the Ares girl.
And to say that Clarisse was spiraling more and more was an understatement.
The five walked behind the booth, Ares seemingly feeling their presence as he glanced back, seeing as they all took a seat in one of the smallest booths in the whole diner; curtsy of Ares's choosing.
"Gimme a second, I'm just starting a fight in Twitter here." Ares spoke, quickly looking back down at his phone as he started typing again.
"Nothing makes me happier than a good old-fashioned, burn-it-down fight." Ares smiled, typing in the last few things before putting his phone down with a content smile. "Ah. Okay, done."
The small table was filled with three large plates, the two on the sides being filled with fries that looked like a tower and the middle on stacked with cheese burgers. Who the hell can eat this much?
"So your quest..." Ares started before sighing, "...is going to fail. Ask me how I know." Ares explained, looking the group of teens and tweens with a smile as if he was a kid on Christmas morning.
"It isn't gonna fail." Percy stated, Clarisse started to give him a death stare. Percy was about to make enemies with the literal god of war, that was not a good sign.
"Sure it is." Ares scoffed, "For starters..." Ares chuckled, looking at both Rory and Percy before pulling his phone out again, a face the two knew all too well on ABX News.
"Rory and Percy were always troubled, especially Rory, but I never thought they were capable of something like this." The annoying voice of their very own stepdad, Gabe Ugliano.
"You have to be absolutely shitting me." Rory groaned, her fingers pinching the bridge of her nose in annoyance.
"Who is that?" Grover asked in confusion, looking at Percy and Rory.
"Our stepdad. What's he doing?" Percy informed, looking at the screen as the sounds of Gabe's fake cries were heard.
"I swear when I see that little mother—" Rory muttered, Percy cutting her off but stepping his foot onto hers, making her stop talking.
"And in addition to the destruction at the Gateway Arch..." The reporter spoke.
"Wait for it." Ares said, a sort of twinkle in her eyes.
"...you believe they may also have had something to do with you're wife's disappearance?" The reporter asked, Rory looking up with fury in her eyes.
"Kids that messed up? What wouldn't they do?" Gabe said, any evidence of his sadness gone.
"It only gets better, wait." Ares said, getting more giddy at their reactions.
