Thea lay reclined on a sun lounger, the golden rays soaking into her skin, her legs crossed lazily at the ankle. The quiet hum of villa life echoed in the distance—splashes from the pool, laughter and chatter drifting on the breeze. Her sunglasses shielded her eyes, but she could still sense someone approaching by the subtle crunch of footsteps on the stone path.
"What you doing sitting here all alone?" Rob's voice carried a note of casual teasing as he stopped beside her.
Thea tilted her sunglasses down just enough to look at him directly, her mouth curling into a slow smile. "Enjoying a bit of peace before someone like you comes and ruins it."
Rob let out a laugh and clutched his chest dramatically. "Wow. Wounded already and I just got here."
"Then you better sit and recover," she said, nodding to the empty lounger beside her.
Rob dropped into the chair with an exaggerated sigh, stretching his legs out. "Villa's got a weird energy today," he muttered, eyes scanning the space.
Thea glanced over at him. "You think?"
He nodded. "Yeah. Like, everyone's trying to pretend they're chill, but you can tell the tension's building a bit. All the smiles feel a little... forced."
"I think people are starting to realize this isn't just a free vacation with a bunch of attractive strangers," Thea said, tugging her sunglasses off and setting them aside. "Feelings are creeping in and no one knows what to do with them."
