2 years and 11 months later
You had just finished setting up for a solo training session in one of UA's smaller, less frequently used training rooms. The room was quiet, the only sound being your steady breathing as you
mentally prepared for the intense workout ahead.
But before you could get started, your phone buzzed. It was a message from Uraraka: *"How's the date going?!"*
You winced, remembering the little white lie you'd told her earlier that day. You hadn't actually planned on going on a date, but you were desperate to get Uraraka and Deku together. Since Deku was your ex, you knew Uraraka would never make a move unless she thought you were moving on. So, you told her you had a date, hoping that it would give her the nudge she needed.
To keep up the act, you decided to go somewhere secluded—like the training room—so no one would question why you were alone. But now, with Uraraka expecting updates, you were in a bit of a bind.
Your mind raced. *What if I just tell her I'm in the middle of something romantic? That'll keep her off my back for now.* You chuckled to yourself, thinking it was a clever plan.
As you were typing out a response, the door to the training room creaked open. You froze, suddenly aware that someone had entered the room. *Great, just what I needed.*Before you could turn around, you heard the familiar voices of Deku and Uraraka talking in the hallway outside. Your heart skipped a beat. *They can't see me alone in here—especially not when they think I'm on a date!*
Without thinking, you spun around to face the person who had entered the room. The lighting was dim, and with your nerves getting the better of you, you couldn't quite make out who it was. All you could see was a tall, muscular figure standing just a few feet away.
Your mind raced as you considered your options. The voices in the hallway were getting closer. You needed to act quickly. If Uraraka and Deku saw you here alone, your whole plan would fall apart. You needed to make it look like you were with someone.
Without giving yourself time to second-guess, you stepped forward, grabbed the front of the stranger's shirt, and pulled him down to your level. "Just go with it," you whispered urgently, before pressing your lips against his.
The kiss was meant to be quick—just enough to fool anyone who might peek in—but the moment your lips touched his, everything seemed to slow down. His lips were warm, and surprisingly soft, and there was an electricity in the air that made your heart pound in your chest. He stiffened in surprise, but didn't pull away, and you felt a strange, unfamiliar heat rush through you.
You pulled back, breathless and a little dazed, and finally looked up to see who you had just kissed.
And then your heart stopped. It wasn't just anyone standing in front of you. It was Bakugou Katsuki, the explosive, no-nonsense classmate who was known for his aggressive personality and fiery temper. His eyes were wide with shock, staring down at you with a mixture of disbelief and confusion.
"Bakugou?!" you gasped, stumbling back as if you'd been burned. Your face flushed with a mix of horror and embarrassment, your mind struggling to process what you'd just done.
"What the hell do you think you're doing, [Y/N]?!" he snapped, his voice low and dangerous, but there was a hint of something else in his tone—something softer, like he was just as stunned by what had happened as you were.
"I—I thought you were someone else!" you stammered, backing away from him as fast as you could. Your thoughts were racing, trying to figure out how you had missed the signs. How could you have not realized it was Bakugou standing there? How could you have kissed him, of all people?
Bakugou blinked, then narrowed his eyes at you, the shock in his gaze quickly morphing into his usual glare. "You thought I was who, exactly?"Before you could answer, you heard Uraraka's voice, much closer now, just outside the door. "I think [Y/N] is in here! I heard voices."
Panic surged through you. *There's no way I can let them see me like this!*
Desperate, you looked at Bakugou, pleading with your eyes. "Please, just play along," you whispered frantically.Bakugou's glare didn't soften, but after a long moment, he sighed, rolling his eyes. "Tch. Fine. But you owe me, big time."With that, he grabbed your wrist and pulled you closer, just as Uraraka and Deku peeked into the room.
"Oh! [Y/N]! We didn't mean to interrupt," Uraraka said, her cheeks turning pink as she took in the scene—Bakugou's hand still holding your wrist, the two of you standing close together, your face flushed and your lips slightly swollen from the kiss.
"Uh, yeah," you stammered, trying to play it cool. "Just... in the middle of something."Deku blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting to see you with Bakugou of all people. "Oh, um... sorry, we'll just go..."
"Yeah, you better," Bakugou growled, his grip tightening slightly on your wrist as if to sell the act. "Get lost."
Uraraka giggled nervously, pulling Deku away. "We'll see you later, [Y/N]!"As soon as they were gone, Bakugou released your wrist, and you let out a breath you didn't realize you'd been holding. You looked up at him, feeling a mix of gratitude and anxiety.
"Bakugou, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen."
Bakugou just stared at you for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, to your surprise, he let out a small, exasperated sigh. "You're an idiot, you know that?"
"Yeah, I know," you mumbled, still trying to process everything that had just happened. "I just... I was trying to help Uraraka and Deku, and I didn't think—"
"Clearly," he muttered, cutting you off. But there was no real bite to his words, just a resigned sort of acceptance.
You bit your lip, still embarrassed but grateful that he hadn't completely blown up at you. "Thanks for going along with it," you said quietly, not quite meeting his gaze.
Bakugou didn't respond right away. When he finally spoke, his voice was surprisingly calm. "Just... don't go around kissing random people, got it?"You nodded quickly, relieved that he wasn't going to make a big deal out of it. "Got it. No more kissing random people."
"And if you ever need to pull something like this again," he added, his voice low and rough, "at least let me know first. Maybe next time, I'll actually kiss you back."
Your eyes widened in shock at his words, your heart skipping a beat as you stared at him. But before you could say anything, Bakugou turned on his heel and strode out of the room, leaving you standing there, utterly confused and more than a little flustered. You touched your lips, still feeling the warmth of the brief kiss, and let out a shaky breath. What just happened?
