"DD, shut the fuck up bro," I said as he complained about retaking a class he failed last semester." Nah you just dumb ma heart" ddot said while laughing at his friend," says the one I have a class with," DD said while rolling his eyes." Yo watch where you going" I heard while watching a girl bend over to pick up what I assume is her phone." Nah what..." I said watching her walking away, losing her in the crowd," She bad asf, who dat?" Dd asked while watching the girl disappear in the crowd of students." I don't even know, but I've seen her before she real quiet stay out the way type of girl" I said, while the image of the girl was burning in my head. The bell rang, making us go our separate ways, until lunch.
Walking into my homeroom I saw the girl from earlier, sitting next to the only available seat in the whole room, walking up to the seat and sat down next to her," Attention student my name is Ms.James, I'll be your homeroom teacher for this school year. I'm so excited to see you guys accomplish your academic goals for this upcoming school year. I'm passing out these 'get to know me and your desk neighbor' worksheets, so I can get to know you. And you get to with the person next to you" Ms. James said while handing out two worksheets, " these are due at the end of class, as you're first grade, so please take your time."
Turning my body to the unknown girl, I began to scan her outfit, she had a pink Lulu set, with Yeezy slides ." Umm, so you wanna start with the assignment or...." The girl softly asked," Yeah we can start, the first question ask 'what's your name' " I said reading the question out loud," my name is De'Lani, but you call me Lani, what's yours" she spoke up in a soft voice," my name is Justin, but call me Jay tho", nodding her head writing down the answer on sheet of paper." Ok the second question asked,' Where are you from?'" I asked, " I'm from Atlanta, but moved to New York when I was like 6 cause of my mom," she said while playing with her nails," what about you?" She asked " I was born and raised here, along with my siblings. Two of them go here" I said writing her answer down." Ok, the last question asks," What do you want to do when you graduate high school?" I asked her, "I wanna be an ultrasound technician, honestly," she said shrugging, " What do you want to be when you graduate, Jay?" The way my name rolled off her tongue made my stomach churn slightly, making me feel warm." I make music with brothers, but I would want to be a producer honestly, since I have experience in the music industry."
"Ohh you make music, what's your name so I can look you up," Lani said pulling out her phone in her jacket pocket." Look up Jayklickin on YouTube", typing in his name in the search bar and clicking the first video that popped up." This you and your brothers?" She asked turning her phone towards him, making him shake his head yes. When the video was over, Lani was surprised because some innocent-looking boys were saying the most reckless shit, but then again this is New York." I liked it honestly, especially your part" she said as the music video ended," Really, you should come to the studio so you can see the process, we have two songs that we wanna put out by next month." I said checking the time seeing the bell was gonna ring in five minutes." What lunch do you have Lani?" I asked her she packing up her stuff as well," I have B lunch I think" she said as began to stand up to head to the door, making me follow her to the door." Really I have the same lunch, so ima see you later Lani" I said as the bell rang, dismissing the students to their next class.
