Shashi Pov :
''The melody of birds singing greets the dawn as the sun begins to rise, illuminating the world with its warm light and greeting the new day''
I was enjoying a peaceful sleep when it was interrupted by something quite bothersome. Yes, you guessed it-I'm referring to my adopted parents' daughter aka my younger sister.
''Wake up, brother! You'll be late if you keep sleeping like Kumbhakarna''.
I quickly opened my eyes because she's correct. Today is my first day at college after a year off and transferring here. Feeling sluggish,I rose from my bed and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and take a refreshing cold shower.
Once I've finished washing up, I take another glance in the mirror.
Absolutely, I feel both beautiful and handsome, but there's something truly stunning about girls in sarees! Today, I'm wearing one too, thanks to a quirky senior who decided on a saree theme for the transfer students.
The reason I'm dressed in a saree is quite simple. A mysterious woman has placed a curse on me, and I can't recall the reason behind it. While the details are hazy, I remember her chanting something about needing to feel a certain way something blah blah.......I don't know WHAT, and this strange occurrence has turned my once peaceful life into a whirlwind of chaos. Now, I experience a transformation where I live as a GIRL during the day and revert to my original BOY form at night.
I hurried from my room to the breakfast table and spotted my adoptive parents, who were waiting for me. A smile spread across my face as I leaned in to peck my mother's cheeks and I said ''Good morning, maa''.
My father shot me a glare when I teased his wife in front of him, but it's all in good fun since we often joke around with each other. It's not like he dislike me; it's just part of our daily banter. I truly love them both for wanting to adopt me from the orphanage when no one else did. Thanks to them, I finally feel the love of parents.
I playfully asked my dad while grabbing some bread from the breakfast table, "Papa, why are you giving me that look?"
"I'm not giving you any look, and what's with the saree?" my father said, taking a sip from his tea cup.
I glanced at myself and muttered in frustration, "Oh, it's all thanks of this because of some quirky senior who decided to set this ridiculous theme to welcome the new transfer students and that why I'm wearing this saree."
My father, concerned asked me, "But Shashi, you're not g-" Before he could finish, I quickly replied, "Papa, I'm in girl form, so it's normal for me to wear a saree. Even though it irritates me, I have to wear it for my first day at college."
My father chuckled softly and remarked, "I can't believe I forgot you're in girl form, but Shashi, you really need to be more cautious when you're out. You can't let anyone know you're a boy while looking like a girl."
I smiled at my dad, who was really worried about me to death, and said, "Don't worry, Papa! I promise I'll call you first if anything happens. I remember what you said last night."
My father smiled silently, while my mother smiled and reassured me, saying, "We believe in you, but we can't help but worry."
I stood up and embraced my parents, reassuring them with a smile, "I understand,Maa and Papa , but don't worry; I'll be cautious."
My sister sulked as she watched us and remarked, "You all seem to have forgotten about me while you're over there hugging."
I looked my sister's pouty face and reached out with one hand to invite her into a family hug. This is our special morning family hug; I realize it's a rather unique way to start the day.
I glanced at my watch and quickly exclaimed, "Oh no, I'm running late!" and I approached my parents to touch their feet and seek their blessings.
''Jite rho,,good luck beta''.
I hurried to the front door when I heard my sister's voice behind me saying, "Good luck bhaiya , or hai friend banna mt bhulna(Good luck, bhaiya, and don't forget to make friends!)"
I grinned and cheerfully told my sister, "Of couse, apni jholi bhr lunga friends se(Of course, I'll fill my bag with goodies friends!)"
Then I told myself, "I'm going to truly enjoy my first day at college after that incident."
🌋Now, the real excitement begins right here.🌋
