I felt lost inside my own head. I could see my thoughts clearly and it burned when I got to recent memory of that fire consuming me.I didn't feel human, I felt like an empty void that can see and feel and think. It was all helpless. At times everything around me would go dark and I saw nothing.
My eyes would open, but I would only see my room. I couldn't see people. I could hear them, but not see. My ability to speak was still damaged. I can't form any words sadly.
After months of laying in bed. I woke up seeing everything. Jason and Chris sitting at the little table playing chess. Kelly had her child on her lap. A boy it looked like.
I got out of bed and hugged Jason who had no idea that I woke up. He was as surprised as I was.
"Claire, you finally woke up!" He cried out. Chris and Kelly began to clap. Probably for me getting better or for me and Jason being together. Lets just agree it was both.
"I had the support of the kingdom helping." I said. "Plus, what do you mean by 'finally woke up?' I've woken up every day and heard all your conversations in here."
Everyone just looked at me confused. "How?" Kelly asked me.
"I know Jason held my hand where Percy was absorbed by the Warden Stone that Chris destroyed. Then Grandpa Joseph faded from reality."
"This was all months ago." Jason said. "What else do you remember?"
"All the medics not knowing what is wrong with me. They all said it was a different kind of coma. I'm awake now and i'm guessing that is all that matters."
Jason looked over at Chris and then back at me. "We should finally celebrate then. A kingdom party. For surviving another battle against evil and for our Queen Claire surviving death itself to live to see another day." Chris and Kelly left the room and Jason sat me down.
"We have something more important to discuss." Jason said.
"And that would be?"
"Can you use magic?"
"No, haven't been able to. Its all gone."
"Then how come to us you never opened your eyes, you were asleep all this time."
"I swear, I woke up every day and heard everything, I just couldn't speak."
"Because you were asleep." Jason added. "If you believe your magic is gone from your body, it is up to you on the children we can or not have. Take all the time you want. I'll be warning the kingdom." Jason left the room and I sat there in silence.
I've been through many things. Do I just want to go to peace now. A year and a half ago I was ready. Now I don't think I am. Titus and Snow still fly around the world. They have to go.
I got sucked into thinking about battles that I walked over to my Sword and picked it up. I swung the sword a few times and it hurt my arms a little. What I would do to have Darwin here with me to help me through this change in my life.
What about Oliver, the old knight and his stew. The man with one hand and a shield on his back. I missed them all.
I put my sword back down and left to find Chris. We had something to discuss about our family.
I found him in the obvious spot, the horse stables. "Chris we need to speak." I told him.
"About what?"
"I brought you back alive to help me destroy the stones."
"You want me dead again?"
"No, but there are reasons I didn't bring back our parents either. Messing with life and death isn't right and I used you."
"I understand that you used me, but for a good reason and I'm sure the moment you dug me up you were regretting so many things."
I hugged Chris and it surprised me and him both. "I spent most of my life thinking I was an only child. Then I find out my brother wants me dead. In return I killed him, but brought him back. Chris do me a favor and lets be the children our parents wanted."
Chris hugged me back finally. We were standing there at the horse stables making our sibling bond connect for the first time. "You know Claire, you have a way with words."
"Or words have a way with me." I said and we laughed.
"I kinda envy you, sis."
"Why?"
"You are born into an evil race, but you turned good and found love in people that can't be without you. Everybody here had guards on me watching my moves.
The only friends I have are your friends and they barely like me because of my past. My past died when Christopher Bennet died. I'm just Chris now, sister to Claire."
