LUCY

Closing the door of her room behind her, she walked towards her bed and sat on it quietly while her mind screamed telling her to put an end to everything. Her brain was all fuzzy and tired. She was stuck in the labyrinth whose creator was none other than her own brain. She wanted to escape, just run away somewhere far, to some unknown place, in the mountains where she'll be alone and no one would judge her or say that she was overreacting or being overdramatic. Sitting on her bed unknowingly clenching her chest, she tried to breathe but failed, she sat there gasping for air. Her vision was getting blurry and silent tears were streaming down her face.

A loud sob left her mouth due to shortness of breath, she quickly covered her mouth in fear that someone would hear her. She suddenly felt her bile rising and ran towards the bathroom stumbling on her way. Liquid came out of her mouth voluntarily while she sat on the bathroom floor bending on the toilet seat. Her eyes were tightly shut but suddenly opened as she felt a metallic taste in her mouth. She looked down and saw a little amount of blood that came out of her mouth while puking. She felt panicked at the sight of blood but ignored and flushed it all as she felt exhausted. With every breath, she absorbs the stillness, while her tears fall like a slow, mournful song. She sat on the pristine bathroom floor with her eyes shut finding a unique peace in the darkness.

She sat still for five more minutes, but the stillness was hindered by a soft knock on her room's door. She abruptly opened her eyes, it took her a while to comprehend whatever happened in the last few minutes. She sighed while looking at herself in the mirror and splashed some cold water on her face as she again heard the knock on her door, this time louder than earlier. She again sighed and cleared her throat to check if her voice was normal or not. She came out of the bathroom and walked towards the door of her room to unlock it. She saw Miss. Rose standing outside with a worried expression plastered on her face to which Lucy just passed a small smile and got out of the room as she remembered that her oldest brother called her. "What happened Miss? You look so pale. Are you okay?" Miss. Rose spoke with worriedness laced in her voice. Lucy again smiled and spoke, "Yes, I am completely fine. Also please just call me Lucy." Miss Rose was about to ask her more questions but she stopped as she felt Lucy getting uncomfortable by the conversation and decided to end the convo early, "Okay...Umm...Mr. Domenico is calling you to his study" Lucy nodded to that and both of them parted ways.

Upon standing in front of his study door for a few seconds, she heard a voice from inside which she quickly recognized as Domenico's, "If you are done with your staring session with the door, come inside" She slightly flinched and walked inside to see him sitting on the head chair. Domenico signaled her to sit in front of him. She did as he said and looked at him. Domenico stared at her face for a minute, feeling a pang in his heart, but shrugged it off. "I checked your grades from your previous school and felt quite satisfied. So I see no reason for you not to continue keeping those grades in your new school too." he finished in a cold and demanding voice. Lucy looked straight into his eyes with a blank expression on her face while her mind was telling her to scream at him. While staring at his face she zoned out and her mind again wandered off to her past. How her stepdad always forced her into studies, how he always demotivated her and even physically abused her when she got lower marks, well those lower marks 94 or 95, funny ha.

She was brought back to the present by Domenico slightly taping the table in front of her. Domenico looked at her to get the slightest hint of emotion she was feeling right now but failed. How could he when both of them had mastered the skill of keeping a poker face in any situation? "I expect a reply from your side." Lucy looked at him and gave a curt nod whispering a small 'yes'. "Hmm, your school starts in two weeks. So you'll be going to the mall with Stefano tomorrow. You may get all your necessities and clothes from there." Domenico said in a dismissing tone getting back to work in his files. Lucy stood up from the chair and walked back to the door trying to keep herself in control as the voices inside her head were bringing her to the edge.

Coming back to her room, she directly flopped on the bed not wanting to do anything else. She was badly in need of sleeping pills right now in order to shut her brain up.

She laid in the bed staring at the ceiling of her dimly lit bedroom while soft tears silently flowed out of her eyes. Her chest rose up and down as she felt some weird feelings inside her chest, a feeling of rage, betrayal, and coldness while her face remained vacuous. No matter how much she denied but she did need comfort. She wanted to scream at her mom for leaving her behind, for breaking her promise to always protect her from the monsters but only a whispered breath came out of her mouth as she remembered the morning's nightmare. She knew she was going to have panic attack again so she stood up from the bed and went towards the bathroom to splash cold water on her face as it helped her to get calm. She came back and directly went to sleep.

She woke up by a soft knocking sound at her door. She rubbed her eyes and wore her specs and made her way towards the door. She saw Miss. Rose standing outside with a tray filled with food in her hands. She smiled when she saw Lucy staring confusingly at the tray and spoke, "I came to call you for dinner but you were sleeping. So I brought your dinner here." Lucy nodded and took the tray from her and kept it on her nightstand. She washed and rinsed her mouth with water and came back to eat her dinner. She checked the time and got a little staggered as it was already 9 PM, gosh she slept for the whole day. She took a few bites of her food and felt full as she did not have an appetite. She picked her tray and made her way toward the kitchen to keep it. While she was about to descend the stairs, Miss. Rose came from behind and aked in a worried tone, "Oh dear, did you not like the food?" Lucy shook her head and said, "No, I just don't feel like eating today." Miss. Rose took the tray from her and told her to rest.

Coming inside her room, she looked at her study table and decided to study. She sat on the chair and picked out a physics book from the shelf and started studying. After studying for 4 hours straight, she kept her head on her book and slept.
