I raise my head from his body, licking my lips as I taste the last drops of his lifeblood.
I smell it in the air, the rich, heavenly, exquisite aroma. The blood shrouds the carnage, lacing corpses like redolent wine.
Bodies that I have tasted lay surround me, having pleased my lust for those few blissful seconds. I have virtually left nothing, devouring anyone I could lay my hands on in the midst of my desire.
I had ravaged myself on their sweet succulent flesh; dining, sampling, savouring the ungodly taste of the divine. Now, bones were almost all that remained, bone marrow sucked dry, shattered into fragments. Shards protruding from disengaged limbs and smashed collar bones. I lay down again in the pool of blood exuding from his lacerated skin.
Turning my head I gazed into his soulless eyes, the dark blue of the irises appearing black in the moonlight. They had been frozen in shock when I first struck him, but now they were as emotionless as his body. The soul that had once resided behind those eyes was long gone.
I reached forward and slipped my fingers into his eye socket. Twisting the eyeball I broke the optic nerve and brought the white orb to my lips. I bit into it languidly as I rose once more, letting the acidic juices run down my chin. They splattered down onto the man burning droplet sized lesions on his face, but I didn't notice as I was already scrutinizing my surroundings for more sustenance.
That's when I saw her.
