When the silence is too loud
No one around to distract you from your thoughts
Left alone to be in your own company,
just the thought of it terrifies you.
Being alone puts you in distress
Nothing to quiet your mind,
your own worst enemy
It brings you down,
tells you that you're useless,
a nobody,
a nothing.
And so, you do whatever it takes to silence it
You look for comfort in others,
but at the end of the day,
as you lay alone in your bed at night,
it's just you and your thoughts again,
going through a vicious cycle of tormenting yourself with what was,
what is
and what could have been.
It's torture
You do everything to try and escape it,
physical pain being better than the pain you feel inside.
