Finally, the training camp had come to an end. The Karasuno team was busy packing their belongings, getting ready for departure.
Everyone exchanged their goodbyes before driving off. As the bus rolled away, the crows soon drifted into a well-deserved sleep. However, one person remained awake, gazing out the window. He was mesmerized by the beautiful sunset, feeling a pang of regret that he could only enjoy the moment by himself.

It was a typical day, and Hinata was having lunch inside the classroom with his usual group of classmates.
"Hinata! Someone's looking for you at the gate!"
A classmate shouted, interrupting the poor tangerine’s meal. Hinata immediately sprang up, dashing out of the room. He hated making people wait, even if it meant sacrificing his precious lunch.
As he approached the school gate, a familiar figure caught his eye, waving at him.
G-Grand King?!!
"Oikawa-san?! What are you doing here?" Hinata asked, his face a mix of confusion and surprise. To his bewilderment, Oikawa—normally so cheerful and self-assured—looked oddly tense, as if something was weighing on him. The shift in the brunette’s demeanor threw Hinata off, making the moment awkward. Feeling the need to break the uncomfortable silence, he scrambled for something to say.
"So...uh, why are you here? Gra- Oikawa-san? Do you need to see Kageyama?? Should I call him-"
"N-no!"
Hinata was abruptly cut off when Oikawa pulled him further from the gate, noticing the growing number of people watching them.
The taller man crouched down, still holding both of Hinata's hands. He was sweating and trembling. "Please… don’t hate me after what I’m about to say," he pleaded.
Hinata gave a small nod in response.
"So, um… I-I like you, Shoyo Hinata. I can’t explain exactly how I came to feel this way, but one thing’s for sure, I started to feel these things when I first saw you. I wouldn’t call it love at first sight—at first, I just wanted to crush your volleyball dreams. But as time passed, I couldn’t stop thinking about you. So, after thinking this through, here I am, confessing my love."
Oikawa spoke each word without breaking eye contact. But as soon as he finished, his gaze dropped to the ground, his heart racing as he felt his face burning with embarrassment. He hadn’t expected anything from Hinata, knowing that volleyball was his main focus.
Yet, with their hands still intertwined, Oikawa noticed that Hinata’s hands were shaking too.
Nervously, he glanced up, fearing Hinata might be disgusted or angry. But to his surprise, Hinata was also blushing, with tears beginning to form in his eyes.
Oikawa panicked, immediately standing and cupping Hinata's cheeks.
"W-wait, please don’t cry! Do you hate me that much? God, I really messed up. Shh—you don’t have to give me an answer, just please don’t cry, Hinata."
Oikawa’s voice trembled with genuine worry, making Hinata laugh softly, which instantly calmed him down.
"It’s not that, Oikawa-san," Hinata replied, "I’m just embarrassed, that’s all. No one’s ever confessed to me before, so I don’t really know what to say…"
Oikawa sighed in relief.
"About your confession," Hinata began, gently removing Oikawa’s hands from his face. "I can’t give you the answer you’re hoping for. I don’t really know what love feels like—I’m just a volleyball dork. I admire you as a volleyball player, but I can’t say I feel the same way." He smiled, and Oikawa felt a pang in his heart.
"I have to go now, Oikawa-san."
Hinata started to leave, but Oikawa quickly held his hand.
"I just want you to know, I’m not giving up. I’ll turn that admiration of yours into love, so please… let me court you."
Hinata nodded, offering one last smile before running back to his classroom.

"Shoyo!"
"Why is he here again?" a certain blonde grumbled in frustration.
The Karasuno team was about to head home after their after-school practice when they spotted Aoba Johsai's volleyball captain, Oikawa, waving by the school gate.
"I'll be going now, everyone! Bye!" Hinata called out, waving to his teammates before running over to the brunette.
Oikawa felt a sharp gaze fixed on him and, with his usual sense of superiority, returned the glare before turning back to walk alongside Hinata.
"What's up with him? This is already his third day doing this," Sugawara remarked.
Ever since Oikawa’s confession, he’d been showing up after school to pick up Hinata, which had started to concern the team. Kageyama, in particular, was visibly affected. Initially dumbfounded, he now worried that Hinata had chosen another setter over him.
"Are they… dating or something?"
The team’s libero suddenly blurted out, catching everyone’s attention.
"No, they’re not dating, but… Oikawa is courting Hinata," someone replied.
"WHAT?!"
Everyone shouted in unison, startling Yachi.

I decided to make Oikawa a softy mainly because I want to balance the story. Since, I made Kuroo a horny cat I want Oikawa to be a doting boyfriend character.
Ps: Comment if you're alright with this kind of set-up.
