The speaker crackled as the man in the intercom started to speak, "Those within the number 055-068, please proceed to the Examination Room E3-G at the fifth floor, please." A noise lingered for a while as it rang in my ears before the mic was muted."Kuh," I whimpered in irritation, placing my palm on my ear. "I gotta go now.." I stood up from my seat after I took a quick glance at my number being 064.
Well, I'm finally taking this exam. After this I can start my expedition!
I got pumped thinking about it I instinctively did a small fist pump.
PING
The elevator beeped, "Fifth Floor." The automated voice installed in the elevator announced.
I, along with the rest of the examiners left the elevator and went to the designated room. To be honest, I didn't really know where it was, I just followed those in the lead. Leave the work to the path finders in front!
"Ohh, this is it! Good luck everyone!"
"Ah, you too good luck, and for the rest also."
"Hehh, I can't wait!"
"Feels like a waste of time to me."The hallway is filled with reverberating voices of the different examinees, their voices embodying excitement, hope, and those who find it as a waste of time. As for me?
I just hope I pass, they didn't say that getting bare minimum will affect me, right?
I nervously chuckled before entering the room after those infront.
Entering, I was met with the chill breeze coming from the air conditioner fixated at the back wall. It is the only air conditioner but it had the power.
Everyone stood idly at first not knowing what to do until a consensus happened between some people to just find a seat to occupy. We were not informed of instructions or a seat plan after all.
Hhnnnnn
The buzzing noise echoed across the room. For some reason everyone went silent just now. A complete 180 of the previous cheerful environment I was submerged in. Then, after some time, my questions regarding the weird sudden silence was answered.
The door knob twisted as it was pushed then to reveal a seemingly common man in uniform just like a typical teacher would wear, however a particular aspect stood out from him. Well, other than the fact he is bald, upon closer inspection his left eye is vibrant blue opposing the black-colored right eye. Yet that isn't the only thing eye catching. Between moments, his left eye glows and emits a small cloud of dark blue. I don't know what it does, but..
DANG ISN'T THAT THE COOLEST THING I HAVE SEEN?!
As he walked towards the desk in front of us, I was put to trance looking at his unnatural eye meticulously following the minuscule trail of dark blue clouds."Ahem, good afternoon everyone. I do hope that you ate well and lots during your lunch, because this will be VERY, an emphasis on very, remember that! This test will be VERY taxing to your mentality." The man in front spoke. His voice held authority and stood firm, his mere presence before us felt like we were subject as he is our king, even his posture felt majestic. It made me tad bit nervous complicating my feeling of admiration of him.
"Wait, what? I expected a physical test. Is this going to be a regular examination?"
"I'm not particularly sure, but he did say it'll tax our mentality, so possibly you are correct."
"What if it is a mental strength test? Maybe he'll put us in dangerous or near death situation to prepare us for the labyrinth?"
"Eh?! I don't want that, yet! I just want to explore the shallow levels!"
"Ain't that thinking bit' shabby don'cha think so?"
A series of murmurs, then evolved to conversations, then evolved to principles, and expectations clashing with one other. I am interested at their speculations, but I prefer not to take part in their conversation and keep my thoughts to my self. Overtime, the room turned chaotic. Multiple personalities clashed and it became loud to the point the man in front had to step in and maintain order."THAT'S ENOUGH!" He shouted. His nerves in his neck and temple were visible after that. It is clear that he became irritated.
"You all are over reacting," He sighed, possibly in disappointment? I'm not sure. "We're going to be watching a... well you could say it resembles a game tutorial."
...
...
It was silent, the room wen-
"COME ON YOU COULD HAVE SAID THAT!"
"Was the part mentioning it could tax our mentality needed? Jeez.."
"Wait, so aren't we wasting time here? Can't we just watch it in our house and on our phone?"
"No, no, you could still benefit with the air conditioning here."
"That's true."
"Don't tell me it's like those airplane safety video guides, right?"
"We waited 2 days for this?"
How many times did this room reach to an uproar again?
I thought to myself with a little smug.
"Jeez, even I was shocked that it'd be this simple this year, you know? Back in my time it wa-""Just get it over with, old man!"
"I really wanna start exploring now, I agree with them, we should proceed."
Before he could speak, he was abruptly cutoff. Losing to the voices of the majority, he surrendered with a embarrassed look, completely sulking down. What a betrayal to my views and expectations of him, for him to surrender like this.
I do agree, this isn't really worth something to wait for 2 days.
"Very well. We'll start the examination...," He paused, probably for dramatic purposes and to put tense upon us.
"In 3 hours!" He said in a jolly.
You guessed it, another uproar.
"Hahh, what a day. I didn't expect it to be this chill." I said amidst the chaos around me.
