Second Chance

Prologue

Life is cruel.

At times, it feels as though there's no escape from the endless cycle of pain, loss, and the despair that haunts even the strongest of hearts.

There are moments when the weight of the past is so overwhelming that darkness becomes the only refuge, the only way to survive.

That's how they found each other, amidst the chaos of a world that seemed to crumble more with each passing day. Scarred both physically and emotionally, they had thrown themselves into a cause that, though twisted, gave them purpose—a criminal organization that promised peace but pursued it through all the wrong means, with actions as brutal as the fate they sought to fight.

For them, love was a distant concept, an illusion buried somewhere in the past, entombed alongside those they once loved and whom time had torn from their lives. There was no room for feelings on their journey; the heart was a burden they had learned to carry hollow. What remained was a commitment to the mission, a convenient escape from a reality where pain was the only constant companion.
