Chapter 16: Tartarus and the Fall pt: II

"Maki watch out!" Kojiro went a volley of Ice attacks at a large group of shadows closing in on them. January 27th. The next full moon, Nyx would be waiting atop Tartarus for the final battle. Maki was pushing forward with her friends and family. Matsuyama was using his own abilities to help in the fight. Anton was fighting a long side someone nobody expected. Aigis, Anton's elder sister was fighting and she was a powerhouse against the shadows. Yukari was helping everyone with support as she continued to heal everyone.

"Aigis, Anton, Kojiro, Lance! I need you all to go with Maki and help her fight to the top. We can't all be left stuck down here." Mitsuru yelled out. The group of five ran for the stairs as the others continued to fight. With the extra numbers the shadows were having less and less fortune against SEES. Maki and her team continued to rise up the tower until they reached the 262 floor. Yet another memory his Maki as she saw her father at her age, along with Junpei, Aigis, and Akihiko fought against Takaya and Jin. Standing before them though was Jin and Chidori, at least the alternate universe Chidori.

"This fight ends here. Midea!" Chidori and Jin summoned their personas as everyone went into the fight. Maki and Kojiro took on Chidori while Aigis and her brother Anton took on Jin. Anton saw as his sister summoned her persona Athena. Jin was abusing Anton and Aigis' weakness to electricity but they continued to fight with all their might. Lance stood back fighting whenever he saw an opening. Kojiro pushed Maki towards the stairs telling her, "Go, we'll handle them. You've gotta get up there and kick Nyx's ass." Maki smiled as she ran past Strega. Matsuyama was told by Mitsuru to go and help the others with Strega. He smiled as he ran up the stairs.

Maki ran past the 263rd floor as she reached the summit of Tartarus. Floating high in the sky was Nyx, as large and imposing as ever. One final memory flashed before Maki as she saw her father battle Nyx by himself. "Like father like daughter. Let's go" Nyx didn't bother to give Maki the speak about how he wished for thing to be different. "The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge, he sealed his fate. Entrusting his future to the cards, man clings to a dim hope." Nyx told Maki about each Arcana she faced and what they meant. Maki started the fight with Orpheus, same as her father. The fight continued very strongly, neither Maki nor Nyx could get a good opening on the other. Maki went through her personas quickly. Surt, Scathatch, Odin. Soon Maki faced the same challenge her father did.

Aigis and Anton were struggling with Jin. Lance and Kojiro were fighting Chidori, and the other members of SEES were fighting through the shadows. Everyone was having a rough time, even with the older SEES members fighting their hardest. Maki summoned Siegfried and Attis before Nyx his her with a massive strike. "Maki, my friend. Why do you continue to fight me? I know you feel that you can defeat me but the determination and power I saw was just a dim hope." Maki stood to her feet as she faced Nyx. "My father beat you plenty of times. I'm far stronger than you." Maki held her Evoker to her head as she yelled out, "Persona!" Thanatos came to her aid as Nyx watched in horror. "No! Not again."

Mitsuru looked to everyone as they all found a new drive to keep fighting. "Everyone, we can do this. Just believe in yourselves!" Everyone summoned their personas and vaporized the shadows. Aigis and Anton broke free from Jin's barrage and sent him to the afterlife as he dropped a grenade at his own feet. Chidori got slashed across her chest by Lance as everyone came running up the stairs. Everyone saw as Thanatos overpowered Nyx and slashed his sword across her face. The mask Nyz wore didn't fall but everyone saw as Nyx fell to her knees as the mask had a massive slash from the bottom of her jaw to the top. "So close, so very close." Nyx said as she rose to her feet. Maki lunged at Nyx as the two of them flew towards the moon. Nyx's true form of the moon opened as Maki entered. Everyone screamed out for her.

Maki found herself inside the Velvet room as Igor spoke to her, "My dear friend. You are about to enter Nyx and face the core itself. Your friends are cheering for you." Igor vanished as Maki landed facing Nyx's core. As the core was about to send a blast of death at Maki all of the personas within the compendium formed around her. Orpheus, Thanatos, Messiah, Siegfried, Attis, and so many more all flew at the core as they all bombarded Nyx. Maki held up her hand as Makoto's form stood next to her mimicking his daughter. With the power of Makoto and Maki Nyx was sealed without the use of a life being taken. As everyone sood fearing for the worst they found themselves back stood in front of the Nanjo Tower. Yukari looked towards the entrance as they saw Maki walking out of the building. Everyone ran up to her as Yukari held her daughter tightly. "Thank goodness you're alright Maki. You did it." Everyone gathered for a group hug as Matsuyama stood back. He smiled before leaving and walking home. Everyone shared a happy moment, the Dark Hour vanished as Nyx was for the final time, defeated. The Fall was prevented and peace would finally reign over the universe Makoto created. Everyone would just have to live their lives without him being there anymore.

With the Dark Hour vanquished everyone thought they would forget what happened but due to the power of Maki and Makoto they would all remember everything. Things would be nice as nobody would need to fear the inevitable end anymore. Maki and her classmates still had one final objective to complete though.
