**Chapter Seven: A Race Against Time**
The drive to Mount Sinai Medical Center felt like an eternity. My mind raced with worry and fear for my sister, April. Luka drove with a calm efficiency, his deep green eyes focused on the road ahead. Despite the urgency of the situation, he managed to exude a sense of control that I found oddly comforting.
"Thank you for driving me," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Luka glanced at me, his expression softening. "Of course. I wouldn't let you go through this alone."
We arrived at the hospital, and I immediately rushed inside, my heart pounding in my chest. The sterile smell of antiseptic and the bright fluorescent lights only heightened my anxiety. I approached the reception desk, where a nurse looked up with a sympathetic smile.
"How can I help you?" the nurse asked.
"My sister, April Banks. She was admitted earlier. Dr. Thompson called me," I said, my voice trembling. My black hair fell over my shoulders, and my blue eyes were filled with worry.
The nurse nodded and quickly checked her records. "She's in the ICU. I'll take you there."
I followed the nurse through the maze of corridors, Luka close behind me. When we reached the ICU, Dr. Thompson was waiting for us.
"Ms. Tanisha?" he asked, extending his hand.
"Yes, that's me," I replied, shaking his hand.
"I'm Dr. Thompson. Your sister is stable for now, but her condition is serious. She suffered multiple fractures and a head injury. We're doing everything we can."
I felt tears welling up in my eyes. "Can I see her?"
"Of course. But please, keep it brief. She needs rest," Dr. Thompson said, leading us to April's room.
I stepped inside, my heart breaking at the sight of my sister lying motionless on the hospital bed, surrounded by machines and monitors. The rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor was a stark reminder of the fragility of life. I approached the bed, taking April's hand in mine.
"April, I'm here," I whispered, my voice choked with emotion. "You're going to be okay. I promise."
Hours passed, and I remained by April's side, my eyes never leaving my sister's face. The doctors had done all they could, but April remained in a coma, her condition critical. The weight of the situation pressed down on me, and I felt utterly helpless.
Luka approached me gently. "Tanisha, you need to rest. You've been here for hours. April wouldn't want you to exhaust yourself."
I shook my head, tears streaming down my cheeks. "I can't leave her, Luka. What if she wakes up and I'm not here?"
Luka knelt beside me, taking my hand in his. "I understand, but you need to take care of yourself too. I'll call a taxi for you. You need to rest."
I looked into his deep blue eyes, seeing the sincerity and concern there. I knew he was right, but the thought of leaving April alone was unbearable. Finally, I nodded, my exhaustion overwhelming me.
"Okay," I whispered.
We walked out of the ICU together, the weight of the situation hanging heavily between us. Luka hailed a taxi for me, knowing I had walked to the coffee shop earlier and didn't have my car. As I got into the taxi, I turned to Luka, my eyes filled with gratitude.
"Thank you, Luka. For everything."
He gave me a reassuring smile. "It's the least I can do. Take care, Tanisha."
As I watched him through the window while driving away, I felt a mix of emotions. Fear for my sister, gratitude for Luka's support, and a burning need to uncover the truth behind April's fall.

POV of Lucifer:
Meanwhile, I drove home in my sleek, black Aston Martin DB11, my mind racing with suspicions about my brother, Damon. The night was far from over, and the shadows held secrets that were yet to be revealed.

I snapped my fingers, and my appearance shifted back to my true form: platinum blonde hair and red eyes. As I drove my expensive and distinguished car through the dark streets, my mind swirled with dark suspicions. The luxurious house felt colder, the shadows deeper. I found Damon in the study, lounging in an armchair with a glass of whiskey in hand, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Ah, I see you changed your appearance before coming in," Damon said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Does the angel know of your identity?"
"Whatever, Damon," my voice was a low growl, barely containing my anger. "We need to talk."
Damon looked up, his brown eyes gleaming with amusement. "To what do I owe the pleasure, Lucifer?"
My red eyes blazed with fury. "Don't play games with me, Damon. I know you were involved in April's fall."
Damon's smirk widened, but his eyes remained cold. "Accusations without proof, brother? That's not like you."
I took a threatening step closer, my fists clenched at my sides. "The timing was too perfect. She found out too much, and now she's in a coma. This has your fingerprints all over it."
Damon leaned back, taking a slow sip of his whiskey. "You give me too much credit, Lucifer. I had nothing to do with it. Maybe she just had an unfortunate accident."
My jaw tightened, my anger barely contained. "An accident? You expect me to believe that? You've always been ruthless, but this... this is beyond even you."
Damon's expression darkened, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper. "Careful, brother. You're treading on dangerous ground. I told you, I had nothing to do with it. Believe what you want, but without proof, your accusations mean nothing."
My eyes narrowed, my voice cold and steady. "I'll find the proof, Damon. And when I do, you'll pay for what you've done."
Damon's smirk returned, a mocking glint in his eyes. "Good luck with that, Lucifer! But until then, I suggest you focus on keeping our little angel safe. She's going to need all the help she can get."
Damon stood up, turned on his heel, and walked out of the study. The confrontation had only deepened my resolve. I knew Damon was lying, but without evidence, I was powerless. As I walked through the darkened halls of our home, I vowed to uncover the truth and protect Tanisha at all costs.
