Nara's POV:
(Outfit that she wears is in the top)I look up as Skylar bursts into my room. "Do you want to go to a party with me?" she asks. I freeze, about to decline, but she adds with a grin, "You can't say no."
"Why do I have to go to a party?" I protest, starting to grasp the situation. "And wait, who invited you to a party? You're only 13!"
Skylar meets my gaze and explains that a girl named Gia invited her, promising it would be fun. Reluctantly, I agree, "Fine, I'll go, but you can't leave my side, okay?"
She nods excitedly and heads out of the room. I stand up and head to my closet, selecting my cutest dress and laying it on the bed. I gather all the extra items I need to get ready. After a quick shower, I spend the next 30 minutes on my makeup. Once I'm finished, I slip into my dress, put on my shoes, and spritz on some perfume.
I remove my bonnet and scarf, then walk to my sister's room and knock on the door. When I hear a faint "Come in," I open it to find Skylar already dressed. We leave her room together and say goodbye to our dad. As we step out, I brace myself for the evening ahead.
Skylar and I walk down the driveway to where our parents' car is parked. The evening air is cool, and I can see the distant glow of party lights as we approach our destination. Skylar chatters excitedly about what to expect, but I'm more focused on calming my nerves.
We arrive at a large, brightly lit house with music thumping from inside. The front yard is decorated with streamers and balloons, creating a festive atmosphere. Skylar bounces on her toes, practically dragging me up the steps. I take a deep breath and follow her inside.
The living room is packed with kids our age, some dancing, others gathered in groups chatting. I scan the room, looking for familiar faces, but mostly I see strangers. Skylar waves to a few people, clearly feeling at home. She grabs my hand and leads me through the crowd, searching for Gia.
Finally, we spot a short girl with a smile that looks almost fake. "Gia!" Skylar calls out, and Gia turns, her face lighting up when she sees us.
"Skylar! I'm so glad you could make it!" Gia exclaims, giving her a hug. She then turns to me with a friendly nod. "I'm Gia. It's great to meet you!"
I smile, feeling slightly more at ease. "Nice to meet you, Gia."
Gia motions for us to join the party. "Come on, let me show you around. We've got games, snacks, and a dance floor set up."
Skylar's eyes sparkle with excitement as she follows Gia, and I walk alongside them, trying to adjust to the lively atmosphere. Gia introduces us to a few more guests, and soon enough, I find myself chatting with some friendly faces and joining in on a group game.
As the night progresses, I start to relax and even enjoy myself. The music is upbeat, and the energy of the party is infectious. I keep a close eye on Skylar, who is happily immersed in the fun, but I also find myself engaging in conversations and having a good time.
By the time the party starts to wind down, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I glance at Skylar, who is still buzzing with energy, and think back to how hesitant I was at the beginning. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all.
As we head back home, Skylar recounts every detail of the night with enthusiasm. I listen, content and a bit surprised by how much I enjoyed the evening. When we finally walk through our front door, I feel a mix of relief and satisfaction.
"Thanks for making me come," I tell Skylar, giving her a warm smile. "Tonight was actually fun."
Skylar beams at me, her excitement undimmed. "I knew you'd have a good time!"
We head to our separate rooms, and as I settle into bed, I reflect on the night's events. I realize that sometimes stepping out of my comfort zone can lead to unexpected, enjoyable experiences. And who knows-maybe the next party won't be so intimidating after all.
