❝ i don't need anything from you ❞Vienna would have given anything to be engulfed by the earth beneath her, to dissolve into the soil like rainwater and fade like a wisp of smoke lost in the mist of early dawn.
Her converse slapped the ground while her legs screamed in protest. The blonde's chest heaved as the chilled, though scorching air that lingered in the balmy wind bit into her lungs.
The evening sun had broken against the horizon, spilling across the soccer field painting the vicinity with hues of amber and gold. The air was thick with the scent of freshly cut grass, mingling with the sharp tang of sweat and determination.
Vienna willed a smile, luminous and sweeping, as she hurled her arms, pom-poms catching the dying rays of sunlight and casting a mosaic of vibrant hues that danced across the plastic, shimmering in a fleeting, sunlit spectacle.
Sweat pearls formed at the wake of her skin, glossing over her flushed complexion littering drew across her frame. The autumn air burnt at her back, a crisp reminder of the season's merciless hold as it wove through the pale gold strands that fled Vienna's scarlet adorned ponytail.
Vienna stood at the edge of the sidelines, her muscles tense beneath the vibrant uniform that clung to her like a second skin. Cheers rose like waves, crashing over the field.
Her voice rang out, sharp and clear, as she led her team through a rehearsed cheer. Her body moved in perfect rhythm with the others. Her legs kicking high, the cheer flowing through her like muscle memory, but her heart wasn't in it. Her pom-poms felt heavy in her hands, like anchors tethering her to a moment she wished to escape.
"Let's go, Kangaroos! Fight, fight, fight!"
There she was in all her glory. Lynn Loud was a force of nature on the field, her every move a symphony of grace and power. Vienna's eyes traced Lynn's silouhette, her heart tangled in a knot of emotions she couldn't unravel. Even as she cheered, her eyes couldn't help but drift towards Lynn, who dominated the field with an intensity that made Vienna's stomach twist.
The same intensity she used to make it clear that Vienna had royally fucked up.
The energy that usually fueled her cheers felt hollow, each move and chant felt more of an obligation than a passion.
"Go, Kangaroos!"
The words tasted bitter on her tongue, forced out through gritted teeth. As the stands roared with every play, Vienna pushed herself harder, her movements growing more intense, more exaggerated. But no mather how much she moved, how loud she cheered, she couldn't shake the feeling.
