Olivia's View

I hear an exhale and look over at Y/n. Y/n turns over to face me and we stare at each other.

"Your dad's a great guy." Y/n says.

"I know." I say.

I glance at her hand and grab it.

"What's that?" I ask, gesturing towards the orange smudge in the palm of her hand.

"Rust, I guess." Y/n says.

"So you were at the bridge for a while?" I ask.

"...yes." Y/n says.

"So you were just gonna leave it all behind? The campaign, your mom, me, — everything?" I ask.

"I just wasn't thinking. Nothing mattered in that moment." Y/n says.

"Why didn't you call?" I ask.

"I just didn't wanna get you anymore involved. I felt bad for bringing you into this." She says.

"Y/n, you're my girlfriend. I'm gonna stick by you no matter what. If you need to call me, call me." I say.

She smiles and nods.

"I'm sorry this happened to you." I say.

"It's not your fault." She says.

"Yeah, but people wouldn't have questioned your sexuality if I never came around." I say.

"You coming into my life was the best thing to ever happen to me." She says.

I smile and we kiss.

"I guess I have to address this." She says.

"Do you?" I ask.

"The longer I wait, the more I'll drop in the polls." She says.

"How about, we take a trip to Malibu for the weekend to recoup and then you address it?" I ask.

"Car rides to Malibu." She sings quietly.

"Stop!" I say as we both laugh.

"You wanna take me to the same place you went with your ex?" She asks.

"It's different." I say.

"How?" She asks.

"Because we're gonna be together forever and ever and ever and ever." I say.

She smiles and kisses me.

I shift my hands on the steering wheel and glance over at Y/n.

"What're you doing?" I ask as Y/n types on her laptop.

"Writing my apology." Y/n says.

"Apology?" I ask.

"For lying." Y/n says.

"You don't have to apologize." I say.

"Yes, I do." Y/n says.

"No, you don't. Your sexuality is nobody's business, you don't owe anyone an apology. They should be apologizing to you for making you come out." I say.

"You sure?" Y/n asks.

"Yeah, just address it, and the only reason you need to address it is because of your campaign." I say.

"Don't apologize to anyone for being yourself." I say.

She smiles and nods.

I reach for her hand and she smacks my hand away.

"10 and 2!" She says.

"You serious?" I ask.

"In this traffic? Hell yeah." She says.

I laugh and she smiles.

"I've actually never been to Malibu." Y/n says.

"You serious?!" I ask.

"Yep. I was supposed to go with my ex for her birthday but we broke up." Y/n says.

"Your ex?" I ask.

"Yeah, the girl in those leaked pictures." Y/n says.

"Oh, where is she now?" I ask.

"Canada, she was just studying here for college." Y/n says.

"Why'd you break up?" I ask.

"Well, I went to uni in New York and she studied at UCLA so distance split us apart over time." Y/n says.

"What university did you go to?" I ask.

"Columbia." Y/n says.

"You said that so casually." I say.

She laughs and I smile.

Time Skip

Instead of going out for dinner, Y/n insisted on making me the infamous chicken parmesan at our AirBnb.

"Wow, look at these nice breasts." Y/n says slicing the chicken.

"The closet was clear." I say.

Y/n laughs and I smile.

"Do you want me to help you?" I ask.

"No way, you stay over there." Y/n says.

"Fine, I'm gonna play some music." I say grabbing my phone.

"You do that." Y/n says, washing her hands.

I open Spotify and scroll. I press a song and music starts to play.

"This my shit for real!" Y/n says nodding her head.

I laugh and she hums.

"Til I rot away, dead and buried. Til I'm in the casket you carry." Y/n sings.

"I didn't know you could sing like that!" I say.

"Shit, neither did I!" Y/n says.

I laugh and she smiles. She walks over to me and puts her hands on my waist.

"Nothing left to lose without my baby." Music plays as I wrap my arms around her neck.

"Birds of a feather, we should stick together. I know I said I'd never think I wasn't better alone." Music plays as we both smile.

"Can't change the weather, might not be forever." Music plays.

"But if it's forever, it's even better!" We both sing.

We both laugh and smile. We stare at each other and I feel my face heat up.

"I love you." She whispers.

"I love you too." I whisper.

She hugs me and I rub her back.
