Y/n woke to the muted gray light of dawn filtering through the curtains, her body heavy with exhaustion. The night had offered no rest, only an endless loop of tangled thoughts and uneasy dreams that left her feeling more drained than before. She lay still for a moment, her eyes closed, trying to will away the remnants of the night's turmoil, but the tension clung to her like a second skin.

She eventually dragged herself out of bed, the cold floorboards sending a jolt through her bare feet. Her head throbbed with the weight of too little sleep, and her muscles ached from the constant state of vigilance she had been in for weeks. She moved on autopilot, throwing on a pair of black pants and a loose, dark sweater, the colours as sombre as her mood. The reflection in the bathroom mirror was a stark reminder of the restless night—dark circles under her eyes, her skin pale, her hair tousled and dull. She barely recognized herself.

A splash of cold water did little to revive her, but it snapped her into enough focus to get through the morning. She was just considering making a strong cup of coffee when her phone buzzed on the nightstand. The sharp sound cut through the silence, making her heart skip a beat. It wasn't often that she got calls this early, and the timing set her on edge.

She grabbed the phone, noting the number was unfamiliar, and answered it with a curt, "Yes?"

A moment of static, then a high-pitched voice, almost unnaturally so, came through the line. "Y/n. I have an opportunity for you. One that can't be discussed over the phone."

The voice was unsettling, distorted in a way that made it impossible to tell who was speaking or where they were calling from. Y/n's instincts flared, her mind immediately on high alert. This was either a trap or something serious, and she wasn't in the mood for games.

"Who is this?" she demanded, her voice sharp, but the caller didn't answer directly.

"Principle Nezu from UA high. Meet me today, please at the school its a matter of most urgency." The line went dead before she could respond, the abruptness leaving her with more questions than answers.

curiosity, and perhaps the need to distract herself from her own thoughts, won out. She needed to know who had reached out and what this so-called opportunity was.

She moved quickly, brushing her hair back into a tight ponytail and sliding a small knife into her boot, just in case. The gun went into its holster, hidden beneath her sweater, the familiar weight a small comfort as she slipped on her black leather jacket and grabbed her keys. She didn't trust this situation one bit, but she wasn't about to walk into it unprepared.

The streets were still wet from the night's rain, the sky a dull, overcast gray as she stepped outside. The city was waking up around her, the hum of morning traffic picking up, but she barely noticed, her mind already on the upcoming meeting. Y/n moved with purpose, her steps quick and light as she navigated the winding alleys that led to the rendezvous point.
