My feet slap against the uneven flooring as I round the corner towards the bright lights and noise. There's a bar, with a few people milling outside, each sipping from beer glasses.

I sprint towards them, fighting the burning in my lungs as the group of strangers register my panic lined face.

"I need a phone." I splutter, coming to a stop before one of the humans. "Please, I need to call my mother."

The group exchange wary glances, before a female stands up and passes me her IPhone.

"Thank you." I sigh, typing in the number I know off by heart and hitting call.

The phone rings a few times before Mother answers.

"Hello? Is this a scam call?"

"Mother!" I shout, "Listen, something terrible has happened." I register the looks of the humans and slowly realize that I can't really explain the situation in full.

"Nevaeh? Is that you?"

"Yes, it's me. Listen, I picked the wrong person...he, he's...not like me." The group are listening intently as I pick over my next words to use.

"He's...he likes to bite people."

The group scrunch their faces up in disgust.

"He's a vampire?" Mother asks, her voice suddenly much closer to the phone.

"Exactly." I say, "What the Hell do I-"

The phone is snatched from my hand in an instant, and Ash's glowering face is beside me.

He looks pissed.

"Who's phone is this?" He asks, dangling it between his large fingers.

The human girl lifts her hand slowly, her face lax with desire as she regards the attractive man before her.

He's a vampire you stupid girl! I want to scream.

"Here." He says tossing it at her. "We were just on our way."

He clasps his big palm around my wrist and tugs me away. I protest, digging my feet into the ground.

"Help me." I shout, eyeing the humans desperately.

"Hey, leave her alone." One of the humans suddenly calls, "She clearly doesn't want to go back with you mate."

Yes, thank you! I want to cry.

Ash growls next to me, his lips pushing into my ear. "Do you want me to drain every single drop of blood from each of their bodies? No? Well I suggest you come with me with no fuss."

I stop my wriggling then, slapping a fake smile onto my face.

"Sorry everyone, I'm a bit drunk." I attempt to slur my words, hoping my poor acting would suffice.

Ash's hands dig in deep as he spins me and tugs me away.

"Hey, I still don't feel comfortable letting you take her home." Another girl pipes up.

"I'm fine." I smile over my shoulder, "Don't worry."

"No, come with us. I'll get you a taxi home."

Ash freezes, his eyes darkening.

God, he was going to murder them all.

I lift a palm, willing ice into my veins, and flick it towards where they all stand. Instantly their glasses freeze over and their feet stick to the ground.
