"Kill me, and you kill the Witch." The vampire smirked at the Hunters behind me.
I couldn't catch my breath as I stared and stared.
It had been years since I'd come so close to one. Every inch of myself yearned to dive at the Vampire with a stake in hand.
"How did it get in here?" A male voice barked.
A chorus of murmurs answered.
The vampires eyes darted back to me, his lips parting to reveal two elongated canines.
"So nice of you to choose me, Witch." He said, "I can assure you I was not expecting it."
I began trembling.
"This surely doesn't stand." I manage to spit, turning wide eyes towards the Hunters behind me. "He's a vampire, not a Hunter!"
"Can't you feel it, little Witch? Deep in your bones, you know we are connected. I hadn't realized I'd been missing a part of me until just now. Now we're bonded together for life, and let me tell you, immortality is a very long time."
The ground felt unsteady beneath my feet as I turned towards Crux.
His expression was unwavering as he glared at the vampire.
"Crux." I called.
Crux looked at me then, resolution in his eyes as he lifted his stake and prowled forward.
The vampire chuckled behind me at this.
Crux angled the stake in the vampires direction and began to run. Movement happened, so quickly I couldn't register any of it.
One moment Crux was on his feet, determination set in his jaw, the next he was laying on his back, the stake plunged deep into his own shoulder.
"Crux!" I cried.
The vampire stood beside a hissing Crux, his fingers idly flicking at the invisible lint on his shoulder.
"My powers have increased significantly." the Vampire murmured, "What a fantastic benefit."
I dropped to my knees beside Crux, lifting my hands I tugged on the stake, removing it from his shoulder. I wasted no time closing my eyes and willing the warming embrace of natural healing into my palms, I placed them on his bleeding wound, halting the blood spread completely.
"You can heal?" The Vampire questioned, his face suddenly serious.
"Shut up." I snapped, focusing on the intricate part of re-stitching skin back together.
"How interesting." he mused again, "Though I've grown tired of being here. What with all this testosterone and no doubt steroids, come let us go home."
I swung fury filled eyes up at the handsome vampire.
"I am going nowhere with you, vampire."
Th vampire's eyes lit up at the challenge. "Oh, but there you are wrong little Witch. We will go everywhere together now. Come, leave that Hunter to bleed out. A waste of blood if you ask me."
His hands are on me then, grappling at my bare shoulders and heaving me upwards.
The rest of the Hunters watch in shock as I attempt to fight back. I kick and scream, all the while willing magic into my hands. Anything to get this vampire off me. But its like my body will not allow me to harm him.
I struggle to even will a simple flame to my fingers as he drags me towards the window.
"Do something then!" I scream at the pale-faced Hunters. "He's a fucking vampire! Kill him!"
