Letter of Truth

Y/N sat at her desk, her hand trembling slightly as she dipped her pen into the inkwell. She took a deep breath and began to write the hardest letter she would ever compose.

Dear Sanemi,

There are no words to express how much you mean to me. You have been my strength, my courage, and my heart. But there is something I need to tell you, something I have been hiding from you because I did not want to burden you.

I have a disease called Apophalus Exmen. It is weakening my lungs, and the doctors have told me that I have only six months left to live. I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to suffer along with me. I know how much you care, and I couldn't bear to see the pain in your eyes.

Please forgive me for pushing you away. I wanted to make it easier for you to let go when the time comes. I wanted to spare you the heartache of watching me fade away.

I love you, Sanemi, more than words can say. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me and remember the good times we shared.

With all my love,
Y/N

She folded the letter carefully and went to her closet, where she retrieved a small chest. Inside were precious keepsakes, memories of happier times. She placed the letter inside, knowing it would remain there until after her passing.

Y/N then approached Giyu. "Brother," she began, her voice steady but her eyes filled with unspoken emotion. "I need you to promise me something."

Giyu nodded solemnly. "Anything, Y/N."

"After I die, I want you to give this letter to Sanemi," she said, handing him the chest. "He needs to know the truth."

Giyu took the chest, his grip firm. "I promise."

Determined to make the most of her remaining time, Y/N continued going on missions. One day, as she was taking a stroll, she noticed Sanemi training in the courtyard. His muscles and abs gleamed with sweat, causing her to blush. She quickly shook off the feeling and continued walking, her expression cold and detached.

Sanemi spotted her and called out. "Y/N, wait!"

She paused but did not turn around. "What do you want, Sanemi?"

"I wanted to apologize for the other day," he said, his voice filled with regret. "I didn't mean to hurt you."

Y/N turned to face him, her eyes icy. "Our relationship is over, Sanemi. There's nothing more to say."

Sanemi's face fell, and he reached out to hug her. "Please, Y/N. I'm sorry."

Y/N pushed him away, her heart aching with the effort to stay strong. "I don't need people slapping me around, Sanemi. It's for the best."

Sanemi started to cry, his shoulders shaking with the force of his sobs. "I love you, Y/N. I don't want to lose you."

She looked at him one last time, her eyes filled with sorrow. "Goodbye, Sanemi. I wish you the best of luck."

She turned and swiftly ran away, her vision blurred by tears. She found refuge behind a wishing well, where she collapsed to her knees and prayed. "God, please forgive me for hurting him. I didn't want it to be this way."

Sanemi watched her go, his heart shattering with every step she took. He returned to his house and broke down completely, memories of Y/N flooding his mind. He cried until there were no tears left, his body exhausted and his spirit crushed.

Y/N's days were numbered, but she had made her choice. She would face her fate with dignity, ensuring that Sanemi could move on without being weighed down by her illness. It was the hardest decision she had ever made, but she believed it was the right one. As she lay in bed that night, her thoughts were filled with Sanemi, and she silently wished him all the happiness in the world, even if she couldn't be a part of it.
