The warm afternoon sun bathed the headquarters of the Demon Slayer Corps in a golden glow. Y/N walked through the serene gardens, her mind abuzz with thoughts of Sanemi. She gently fingered the bracelet he had given her, a simple yet thoughtful gift that had touched her heart deeply. She wondered how to reciprocate his gesture, and she hoped Kanae-sama could help her find the perfect gift.
Y/N finally found Kanae-sama in the medicinal garden, carefully tending to the vibrant flowers and herbs. Kanae looked up with a warm smile as Y/N approached.
"Y/N-chan! How lovely to see you. What brings you here today?" Kanae asked, wiping her hands on a cloth and standing up.
Y/N felt a bit nervous, but Kanae's gentle demeanour put her at ease. "Kanae-sama, I wanted to ask for your advice. Sanemi gave me this bracelet," she showed Kanae the delicate piece, "and I'd like to give him something in return. Do you have any ideas?"
Kanae's eyes sparkled with mischief and understanding. "Oh, how sweet of Sanemi. It's wonderful to see him showing his softer side." She paused thoughtfully. "Actually, Sanemi's birthday is coming up soon. This could be the perfect opportunity for you to give him a special gift."
Y/N's face lit up with excitement. "Really? That's perfect timing! What do you think he'd like?"
Kanae chuckled softly. "Well, Sanemi has a fondness for ohagi. You could make him some as a heartfelt gesture. It's simple, but it's something homemade, and it shows you care."
"Ohagi..." Y/N repeated, thinking about the sticky, sweet rice balls covered in red bean paste. "I can definitely do that. But is there anything else I could give him?"
Kanae's eyes twinkled as she leaned in closer. "Sanemi's haori is quite worn out. A new one would make a wonderful gift. It's practical, and every time he wears it, he'll think of you."
Y/N nodded eagerly, already planning how she would find the fabric and sew it with care. "That's a great idea, Kanae-sama. Thank you so much!"
Kanae's smile widened, and she couldn't resist teasing Y/N a bit. "You know, Y/N-chan, it's not every day Sanemi takes such interest in someone. You must be very special to him."
Y/N blushed deeply, looking down at her feet. "I don't know about that..."
Kanae laughed softly. "Oh, but I think you are. It's nice to see him opening up to someone. I'm rooting for you two, you know?"
Y/N's heart fluttered at Kanae's words. "Thank you, Kanae-sama. I'll do my best."
As Y/N left the garden, she felt a renewed sense of purpose. She would make the best ohagi Sanemi had ever tasted and sew him a haori that reflected her care and admiration. She couldn't wait to see the look on his face when he received her gifts.
Little did she know, Kanae's teasing words had planted a seed of hope and excitement in her heart, making her look forward to Sanemi's birthday even more. As she walked back to her quarters, her mind was filled with ideas and plans, and her heart was filled with warmth and anticipation.
