⌞ Trust Fund Baby - Why Don't We⌝

I woke up from my slumber to screaming. Ugh… my parents are fighting again. I rubbed my blue orbs and put my blonde hair in a messy bun. I looked in the mirror. I was wearing a hoodie, since I’m not like other girls.

Then my dad burst into the room.
“Get your ass down!” he roared, slamming my petite body into the wall.

“O-o-o-o-o-okay…” I mewled in pain.

I followed him downstairs.
In the kitchen, there were 3 men dressed in black suits.

“There she is!” my father said through his teeth. “Now give me my money!”

One of the men pulled out a bag. My dad opened it. Inside, there were at least 27 million dollars. Those could get my family out of poverty.

I looked to the corner of the room making eye contact with my mother. She looked down immediately. I could see the tear marks and a slap mark across her beautiful face. She has always been the only person that loved me. I put my hand up to my neck to touch the necklace she gave me when I was younger. It had a burnt umber color. It contrasted well with my glossy, sea-colored, sparkly balls of magic called eyes.

“Come with us,” said a surprisingly soft voice. I looked at the person that was talking to me. He was taller than me, with black, slightly curly hair. His face was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. His lips were a soft pink, his orbs looking like boba. He kind of resembled a bunny, I thought. He took my hand and pulled me after him. He led me to a black limousine and put me in the back seat. He sat next to me and said:

“My name is Seonghwa. Your parents sold you to my bosses, the famous mafia, dream visiter called Dreamcatcher. They have traveled into your nightmares and saw your… ehm… situation.” He shrugged. “They took pity on you. They told me that you have the potential to help them with a future war.”

“So… are they taking me as a spy…? And h-how did they buy me?”

“Take a guess.”

“I don’t know…”

“Just try.”

“In the books I read it’s always the Dark Web—”

“Bingo!” he said.

The Dark Web… to be honest, I’m not surprised. My dad has never liked me much, always making sure that I knew how much of a disappointment I was to the family. But I still don’t fully understand. I’m not a spy and I have no special powers…

My thoughts were interrupted by the driver's seat door slamming shut.

“This is why I don’t like assholes like this one! Selling your child!” the blonde man growled.

“We should at least introduce ourselves, since we already know your name,” said the man in the shotgun seat. “We are a gang called Ateez. We have always helped the people you were sold to, so you’ll see a lot of us around,” the man said, showing his dimpled smile. “My name is San by the way! Here in the driver’s seat is our captain, Hongjoong.”

“You are about to meet our boss, Dreamcatcher.”
