Chapter 12

Hook's POV:

Lately, Uliana has been giving me a hard time again especially ever since she noticed me spending time helping Bridget instead of worshipping her every minute of the day. It really is too bad that I found other priorities. For many reasons, I haven't told her that Bridget is my girlfriend after our interaction in the forest. The rest of my friends know, Malificient was the first to find out, but Uliana hasn't been told. Not yet.

Unfortunately, she has been pulling me around again quite often. Don't get me wrong, I was still part of the group and she was still the leader but it just happened to be everytime I was with Bridget. It's almost like Uliana is jealous of my girlfriend.. But that sounds ridiculous. Why would she be jealous?

Either way her actions led to me avoiding her so I could spend more time with my princess. Any time I could get away with being with Bridget I would take. Sometimes Uliana would catch me but I learnt to deal with it.

I was just about to say goodbye to Bridget by hugging her but Uliana drags me away by my jacket collar. So I can't even get a chance to hug her anymore? Wonderful.. This just keeps getting better.

"What is it, Uli?" I roll my eyes as she let's go of my collar. How could anything be so important that I get dragged like that?

She smirks, circling me like a predator hunting it's prey for a moment. I knew I wasn't prey but I might as well be in her eyes.
"Don't be so sour, Hook." I hear her snicker. "You really switch up so fast."

Bridget being the topic didn't surprise me because we haven't actually spoken about her ever since our fall out in the forest after castle coming. That made me glad because my darling wasn't being put at risk but we had to talk about her at some point it seems.

"Switch up? No, I just treat Bridget with respect." If you asked me before castle coming I would say I respect Uliana but I don't now. Spending time with Bridget made me realise that I was just a pawn in Uliana's plans when I wasn't doing my own thing.

"Ha! Respect her?" Her reaction didn't put me in shock. This was all so predictable because of her hatred towards the pink haired princess.

"Yes. She deserves my respect." I scoff, getting closer to Uliana. "You don't.."

Her reaction to that was priceless. I watch as her face fills with anger towards my statement.
"What?! I let you in my group, I give you all the chances to mess with people the way you always would, people like her and this is how you repay me?"

I couldn't stop myself from laughing for a moment. "Mhm.. Well sometimes I grow to like the ones I used to relentlessly irritate."

"I don't get it." She shakes her head, shoving me back. "What is it about her that's so special. Most your time, effort and money goes towards her! Why?!"

This argument gave me the perfect opportunity to tell her. She may not like it but I don't care.
"Bridget is my girlfriend, you intolerant shit. That's why." I stare at her as she grows even more annoyed. "Just because you can't accept a relationship between a villain and princess doesn't stop me. She has been through so much and deserves the love I give her. She's special. There's nothing special about you, Uliana. You just want to replace your sister and I owe you none of the time I give her."

An expression of shock mixes with her already angry look. I'm not worried or anything because she'll probably just have another tantrum because something didn't go her way.

But that's when she swings her fist at me. Before she can hit me, someone is in front of me but I don't see who as my eyes shut from the sudden attempt to hurt me.

Bridget's POV:

The whole time James was arguing with Uliana, I observe the whole thing growing concerned for my boyfriend. She was meant to be the leader of his group and all he's done lately is fight with her.. It was weird. He was ruining all his relationships for me. This time I wouldn't stop him because Uliana is nothing but cruel to him over me but I was still worried.

When I see Uliana swing to hit him, I jump in front. I'm aware of how stupid it is but I didn't want James getting physically hurt for standing up to himself. So what if he was rude about it? She deserved all of it after the years of torment and castle coming. She ruined my life, it was never James who broke me. Yes, he was a huge part of it but it was a build up of everything Uliana and that entire group has ever done.

The punch leaves me bleeding because I fell to the floor from the impact. James kneels down as soon as he notices that its me who blocked the attack. Concern filled his eyes as he looks down at me in his arms.

"Princess.. Why?" he whispers, helping me to stand up. He let's me lean against him until we can get to a more quiet place.

I had no response for him, I just smile knowing that he didn't get hurt. That's all I care about.

He sits me down on a nearby bench and slaps Uliana in return for her hitting me. She tries to slap him back but with one of her tentacles but it gets caught in his hook and damages it so they retract again. "What the fuck, Hook?!" she screams and I chuckle from the bench.

James just walks away and takes me to my dorm.
"Darling, I don't understand why you jumped in front of me." he says while cleaning up my wound and kissing my cheek to apparently 'make it feel better'.

"I didn't want you getting hurt, James. She isn't worth your pain."

"So you sacrificed yourself instead?" he glances up at me for a minute before going back to my wounds that I got from falling.

I nod, feeling flustered because of the confrontation.
"You aren't mad at me, are you?"
He wipes one of the cuts on my legs and I flinch.

"No, just worried. But you stood up to a villain in a way. I know you wouldn't have done that before so I love the new confidence. I love you.. But be careful next time, okay?"

"I love you too and I will, I promise." I smile, adding another promise to our relationship but I didn't mind. I can keep it.
