Ariaellis awoke to a knock at her door. She sleepily sat up in the billowing sheets, and softly rubbed her cheeks attempting to be more awake.

who could need to see me so early?

Still half-asleep she stumbled to the door and opened it. No one was there but when she looked down she saw a small, white envelope sealed with a red stamp sat on the floor. Picking it up and walking back to her bed she suddenly noticed that the deep blues and purple that had once adornered her room were now light yellows and pastel oranges. She rubbed her eyes, wondering if the soft sunlight that's shining through her white drapes tricked her, but everything remained the same. Soft, sunshine-ey hues of yellow, crème, orange, and peach painted everything like a waking sunrise. The room must have magically shifted its colour palate from night to day.

Still enchanted at this change but much more eager to read the letter, she sits down on the cushion closest to her and opens the letter with anticipation.

Legend has chosen you.

The words ring through her head.

How does Legend know who i am? Or where I'm staying? Why did he even invite me?

She was gripping the invitation for Caraval so tightly it started to rumple. Quickly releasing it and smoothing the edge carefully she re-read the words.

Aria was glowing again, the excitement unable to be contained before she jumped up and started getting ready for the day. It seems only the small trunk she had brought with her made it up to her room. She silently mourned the loss of her other trunks but was glad she packed the essentials in the small one she did have. She would have to go dress shopping.

The Satine District would have the dress shops Aria was looking for. It's winding streets were a labyrinth of glistening dress shops, hat shops, and sweet shops, all soaked in petal-fresh colours.

Many other shoppers were flitting about with colorful striped bags on their arms or footmen carrying pastel boxes stacked high. It was incredibly busy, everyone else was shopping for the Fated Ball or the other party's happening this same night she supposed.

Wandering the streets would not be an easy task and Aria longed for an arm to hold onto, some stability in the mess of people. Just then, an arm did reach hers. She followed the wrinkled white sleeve and flinched looking at the owner.
