The weight of everything pressed heavily on Charlotte's chest as she slipped out of her dorm room late that night. She couldn't sleep. Her thoughts drifted back to the events of the day-the secret society's ominous meeting in the abandoned chapel, Margaret's revelation about her mother's death, the weird pendant she found. Then there was Lizzie and Shera's sudden disappearance. They had been so determined to uncover the truth about Charlotte's admission, and now they were simply... gone. The whole situation felt too coincidental, too orchestrated, as if someone-or something-was pulling the strings behind the scenes. She needed air and space to clear her head.
The abandoned garden near the hidden chapel lay in eerie silence, bathed in the soft, haunting glow of the moonlight. White jasmine vines tangled around the wrought iron gates, their delicate blooms releasing a heady, intoxicating fragrance that mingled with the cool night air.
Charlotte moved with careful steps through the overgrown paths, her white, partially transparent nightgown flowing around her like a ghostly shroud. The fabric clung to her skin, shimmering faintly under the moon's silver light, accentuating every curve and contour.
She had come here to escape, to find solace in the solitude of the garden. The moonlight cast a soft glow on her skin, illuminating her with a celestial radiance that made her look otherworldly. But as she wandered deeper into the garden, the sound of footsteps made her heart race. She turned, her breath hitching as she saw Cillian emerging from the shadows, his presence both commanding and dangerously alluring.
"You shouldn't be here," Cillian's voice cut through the stillness, deep and sultry, sending shivers down her spine.
Charlotte froze, her eyes locking onto his. "I could say the same to you."
Cillian's gaze swept over her, taking in the way the thin fabric of her nightgown clung to her form, the way the moonlight made her look almost ethereal. "I see you've decided to play the part of the lost maiden."
Charlotte's lips curled into a defiant smile. "I'm not here for you. I'm here because I need to be alone."
He stepped closer, his movements deliberate and predatory. "You think you can escape everything by hiding here? You're more exposed than you realize."
