Out on the field, you've always got to be on your feet. Specifically in missions where you have to be discreet. John nearly died on a mission like that, loads have, not just my brother.

The thing is, watching from behind the scene as an exportation nurse where all you do is tend to wounds and take away soldiers if they are too injured as if we were in the trenches; it's stressful. Usually, on heavy missions, I have two, maybe three other field nurses with me but today...I'm alone.

At least I have Nik to talk to.

"Nik, get me a stat on the field, I'm not receiving feedback through the radio." I ask, ready to get out and go save someone.

"So...rry?' He hesitates. 'I've got nothing as well Kate." Nikolai replies in his strong russian accent. I look back at him, concerned. I'd usually run out and grab my med kit right now but...

I have a bad feeling about this and Nik sounds just as confused as I am.

We are stuck, 20 miles away from the field with now no information on whoever is out there.

I mean, I mean! Do I just...do I just run out there not knowing how many are injured or do I sit here like a fucking duck?!

The thoughts race through my mind, images of soldiers drowning in their own blood because I can't move my arse. All the images of the soldiers trace back to one person; John.

If he's injured or...dead, even the word makes me want to gag, I swear I'll resuscitate him myself and kill him again.

"What do you mean you have nothing? Not even a radar? Our soldiers are out there and we don't know what's happening?!" I shout back so he hears me well.

"No, I have nothing! I'm confused like you!" He shouts back. Shouting at each other is not gonna help.

"Get Laz online, she has to know about this." I bargain. I'm shooting orders even though it's not my job but we both damn know, as much as they try their best to be discreet, that our loved ones are out there.

I'm not good under pressure, my head spirals like I'm on bloody hallucinogens but all my friends are on that field. My brother is out there. I know he's strong and I know he always fights back but I'll always protect him.

Nikolai changes channels and starts calling out for Laswell.

"Bravo 1, Bravo 1! This is Echo 2! How copy? Over!" Nik shouts into his radio.

The wait for an answer feels like eternity. Nik and I just look at each other anxiously.

"Echo 2, this is Bravo 1. How copy?" Laswell answers. In the panic and random push of confidence, I grab Nik's Walkie-Talkie the second I hear her voice.

"Ma'am! No sight on field, no sight through radar and nothing heard from team Echo 7, over!" I exclaim, feeling like my head's about to explode from the anxiety.
