It was like the first sentence of a novel I recall it was a sunny day. Nothing could have prepared us for what happened. We were all together at our usual family bbq get together. If not for Thomas Sawyer and his quick response we would all be dead. Everyone watched as the scene unfolded. Luckily all the children were nowhere near the explosions. Thomas Sawyer gave his life to save all of us. As many security people we  have and they had all been prepared for something that day. We had no idea a trusted person could want to get rid of all of us and for greed and revenge. Ryan Reynolds wasn't supposed to be at the bbq at all. He walked in with a cooler and casually placed the first of four bombs around the family. Thomas caught him before he could place the first bomb. Apparently Thomas had been present when Ryan was terminated by Christian and he tried to take the bombs from Ryan. He finally had to knock Ryan out and found a bomb on Ryan's body. He made a quick decision to get us away from the scene and quickly. He yelled the safe words and we all ran to the safety areas. All our children knew the procedures and they found the safe rooms. Their security was with them at this point. We weren't allowed to go to where the explosions went off. The bomb squads arrived and we had to be escorted to another location. Christian told me that they discovered more bombs and we couldn't live in the home again. We were all taken to safety and Ryan and Thomas both died in the first explosions.

Christian
I didn't think that Ryan would do this after he was fired for being on drugs during his shift and that he had illegal drugs in his possession. It was the first and last time. I was having fun with our families and Thomas called out the safety words to get everyone to all the safe areas. We heard the explosions soon afterward the bomb squad arrived soon after and cleared us out and off the property while they did their jobs. I can't imagine how Ryan placed the bombs in the time between I fired him and the bbq. CCTV footage shows how he disguised himself as one of the workers setting things up for the bbq. The bomb squad sent in robots to locate the bombs and try to defuse them. We lost half the house.  Thomas Sawyer saved the rest of us and we were evacuated by the bomb squad. This is the first time we had issues with ex military people. We had to find someplace to live that met all our needs. We stayed in several floors of one of my hotels. Our home is now a crime scene and they are still picking up body parts from the first explosions.

I was as dumbfounded as everyone else because Ryan took being fired very calmly. What I didn't know was that he was keeping a big secret and because of HIPPA I did not have access to his records concerning his mental state. It came out in the investigators that he had been seeing a psychiatrist for some time and he was told to quit his bodyguard position and not working a position that would entail violence of any kind. I knew a lot of his background but many of the black ops people have limited information available and they can't divulge their background or what they did during their assignments. It also limits us on trying to discern if they have been discharged for anything other than honorable reasons or psychiatric reasons. So we had no idea that he could be triggered. How he got the explosives is still a mystery.

They were able to get some of our things from the rubble. Christian made sure everything was safe for the crews to go in to find anything left in the structures. Thomas Sawyer had no relatives left, but he left everything to orphans. Ryan left everything to disabled veterans. Sawyer was cremated and his ashes were placed in the Grey family cemetery. Ryan was cremated and no one picked up his ashes, so they had the crematorium do what they would normally do with unclaimed ashes. I didn't want to know because he basically was a murderer.

Thomas Sawyer was my first ex black ops I hired and he lost his wife and children. I gave his eulogy and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. He was given a military funeral and a prominent spot in the Grey family cemetery. A lot of people came to his funeral. Including the guys who replaced him and Ryan. We started giving psychological tests to our security teams. Ethan Kavanagh also gave us a discount on assessing the new people.

All of us could have died that day had it not been for Thomas Sawyer, he had been seeing me for years. I had been seeing Ryan Reynolds as well and I was about to recommend he go for in hospital treatment for more than his drug problems but all his other psychological issues from his childhood trauma and to go into black ops made all his problems worse and they discharged him for suspected psychiatric issues and they couldn't prove he had blown up his team on purpose. I didn't think he would try to kill anyone, he had us all fooled. If he hadn't told me some of his issues and that the military suspected he blew his team up and they discharged him after that. He never admitted to it, but now I have no doubts that he had indeed blown his team up. Someone subpoenaed all his records from me along with Thomas Sawyers records. I wasn't asked any questions at all. I was given a receipt for both records and the men left with all the boxes.
