I woke up to an almost empty house this morning. Apparently my parents and siblings left earlier today to get to a amusement park. They left a note on the fridge saying I wouldn't wake up and that they would be back around three, which means I had some time to myself, well with Wally.
He's a heavy sleeper so I left him, letting him rest so I could eat breakfast. I decided on waffles and warm apple cider. I was a simple meal, but I enjoyed it, eating against the counter instead of sitting at the table. Just as I picked up my boiling hot apple cider I got a phone call. It surprised me because it was dead silent and my ringer was up full volume, not to mention for this person their ringtone was a scream.
I cursed at myself as I tried to clean the boiling hot drink off of my arms while answering the phone at the same time.
"Uhm, good morning Greg..Isnt is pretty early? " I muttered into the phone, putting it to my ear. "I guess so, but I was wondering if I could come over? It's just we haven't hung out in awhile."
"Y/n, can I use your hair stuff?" I heard Wally yell from upstairs.
"Uh sure...!" I shouted back. "Okay, see ya." Greg said before hanging up. I was confused but really didn't care too much. What mattered was cleaning up this mess.
Sooner or later the cider was all cleaned up, but the same couldn't be said for the rest of the kitchen. There was a pile of dishes stacked in the sink and counters and it was just outright gross. My family hasn't even been here for two weeks and this looks like the kind of kitchen that would be on a TV show about helping out the less fortunate.
I didn't even know what dish would be the best to start with, given some plates look like they are growing a whole species on it. I decided it would be best to soak the dishes so hopefully the gunk would be easier to remove. Soaking would take two hours so I went upstairs to check on Wally.
He had cleaned up the fort and was in the bathroom of my master bedroom. Wally was standing on a stool, looking at her hair in the mirror. He put moose on his curl in hopes to reshape it. "Good morning, Y/n." He smiled at me in the mirror. "Good morning.." I said, hoping he could hear me. Seeing him like this brought back flashbacks of before..
"Tell me the truth, Y/n, do I look ugly?" He asked me with tears coming out of his eyes. Ugly, how could he be ugly? The makers of the show designed him to be near perfect, so why would this small mishap change anything?
"No way, Mr.Darling, how could you possibly be ugly? Look at you..! I answered estaticly, which seemed to have cheered him up.Although I can only assume because he straightened his posture and wore a much prouder smile. "Thank you Y/n, you know exactly how to cheer me up." Wally thanked me with a smile. "Now, dear, do you have any and Wally Darlings Exculsive hairspray..."
"...So am I, Y/n..?" Wally asked, snapping me out of my trance. I looked around in confusion "You're not ugly." I shook my head. "W-what..?" He blinked. "Oh I'm sorry uh...what did you ask?" I felt bad not listening to him. "It's fine, I was just asking If I was making you feel weird." He answered, looking back in the mirror. "Weird how?" I asked. "Oh it's just you had a weird look on your face. Like a smile but extra happy...I dunno.." He shrugged. I didn't want to press any further so I left it at that, just watching him get ready. I watched because he didn't seem like he wanted me to leave, he looked like he needed help so..
"Do you need help with the moose?" I blurted out. Wally's face turned up into a smile. "Yes please." He nodded. I sat him down on the toilet so I could have better acsess to his head. I grabbed the moose can, shaking it up before squirting the fluffy foam into my palm. I rubbed it into his scalp and all over his head and e surprisingly let out a purr. Like, a cat pur. I thought it was super cute but didn't say anything about it because he probably didn't notice.
I tried my best to form a curl but it didn't work well since we didn't hair spray. Not to say it wasn't good, I would be lying if I said it didn't, it was just very fluffy, but a curl nonetheless.
"I tried my best.." I said as I stepped out of the way so he could see the mirror.
Wally raised his hand to pat the curl before facing me. "I love it..I love it, I love it, I love it..!" He jumped on me, giving me a tight hug.
I was holding back the urge to say I loved him too...
