Chapter 8: The Office Rumors

The atmosphere in the office had shifted noticeably since MI CHA and Taehyung's relationship began to evolve. What had once been a professional, if somewhat distant, dynamic between them was now the subject of gossip and speculation. Whispers trailed MI CHA wherever she went, and she could feel the eyes of her colleagues on her whenever she walked through the halls.

In the break room, the female employees were particularly vocal, their conversations tinged with envy and curiosity.

"Did you see the way he looked at her during the meeting today?" one of them whispered, her voice low but filled with incredulity. "I've never seen him so... attentive."

Another employee, who had always been one of Taehyung's most fervent admirers, chimed in with a scowl. "I don't get it. What does he see in her? She's just his assistant."

"Maybe it's because she's always around him," another added, a hint of bitterness in her tone. "You know how it is. Proximity leads to feelings."

"Or maybe she's just good at her job," a quieter voice offered, trying to defend MI CHA. But the attempt was quickly drowned out by the others.

"Good at her job, sure. But we all know how men like him are," one woman said knowingly, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "They say it's about work, but we know better."

The conversation circled back to MI CHA's perceived advantages, how she was always with Taehyung, how she seemed to have his ear on every decision, and how their interactions had become less formal and more familiar. The rumors ranged from speculation about MI CHA's intentions to unfounded assumptions about what might be going on behind closed doors.

MI CHA, aware of the gossip but unwilling to let it affect her, chose to focus on her work. She had worked too hard to let baseless rumors derail her career. She refused to give the whispers any power over her, even though she couldn't completely ignore the sting of their words.

Taehyung, on the other hand, seemed utterly unfazed by the gossip. If he was aware of the rumors, he gave no indication. His focus remained on MI CHA, and their interactions continued as if the rest of the office didn't exist. He trusted her implicitly and valued her insights too much to be swayed by idle chatter.

One day, as MI CHA was heading back to her desk after a brief meeting with Taehyung, she overheard a particularly pointed remark.

"She's probably just using him to get ahead," a voice said, loud enough for MI CHA to hear as she passed by. "It won't last. He'll see through her eventually."

MI CHA paused, the words stinging more than she cared to admit. But instead of responding, she took a deep breath and continued walking. She had always prided herself on her resilience, and now, more than ever, she needed to rely on that strength.

As she sat back at her desk, MI CHA felt a wave of resolve wash over her. She wouldn't let their words break her. She had come too far to let anyone's opinion, no matter how unfair, undermine her work or her growing connection with Taehyung.

Meanwhile, in his office, Taehyung was making a decision of his own. He could sense the tension in the air, the way the other employees looked at MI CHA when they thought he wasn't watching. It annoyed him more than he expected, but he knew that addressing the rumors directly would only add fuel to the fire. Instead, he resolved to show, through his actions, just how much he valued MI CHA, not just as an assistant, but as someone who had become an integral part of his life.

And so, despite the growing office rumors, MI CHA and Taehyung continued to grow closer, their bond deepening in ways that neither gossip nor jealousy could touch.
