The days following the emotional confession brought a new sense of normalcy to the cottage. Danielle and Hanni, once burdened by their past, began to open up more fully, trusting Haerin and Minji with their deepest fears and vulnerabilities. The bond between the four grew stronger, forged in shared experiences and mutual care.

On one of those days, Haerin and Danielle found themselves in Danielle's painting shed, a small haven tucked away beside the beautiful pond. The scent of fresh paint and the soft light filtering through the windows created a serene atmosphere, perfect for the quiet activity of painting. As they worked side by side, the silence between them was comfortable, filled with the unspoken understanding that had developed between them.

Haerin glanced at Danielle, who was intently focused on her canvas. After a moment, she broke the silence with a gentle question. "Dani... can I ask you something?"

Danielle looked up, her eyes warm and inviting. "Of course, Haerin. You can ask me anything."

Haerin hesitated, choosing her words carefully. "I've been wondering... what was your life like before, when you were still in the outside world?"

Danielle's expression softened as she thought back to her past, a distant memory that felt both close and far away. "I used to love studying," she began, her voice tinged with nostalgia. "I was always passionate about art and science. I wanted to pursue both, but I ended up focusing more on science because... well, I thought it would make my parents proud."

She paused, her voice faltering as she mentioned her parents. The thought of them brought a wave of emotion crashing over her, and she suddenly stopped speaking. Her eyes filled with tears, and she bit her lip, trying to hold back the sobs that threatened to escape.

Seeing the pain in Danielle's eyes, Haerin immediately set aside her paintbrush and crossed the room to where Danielle stood. Without a word, she wrapped her arms around Danielle, pulling her into a comforting embrace. "It's okay, Dani," Haerin whispered, her voice soothing. "You don't have to talk about it if it's too hard."

Danielle couldn't hold back any longer. She buried her face in Haerin's shoulder, letting the tears flow freely as the weight of her emotions finally broke through. Haerin held her tightly, one hand gently rubbing circles on Danielle's back, offering silent support.

For a long time, they stayed like that, Haerin's steady presence a balm to Danielle's wounded heart. Slowly, Danielle's sobs began to quiet, her breath evening out as she melted into Haerin's comforting embrace. Feeling the warmth and safety that Haerin provided, she snuggled closer, nuzzling into Haerin's neck.

They moved to the small couch that was tucked into a corner of the shed, where they could sit more comfortably. Danielle curled up in Haerin's arms, her head resting against Haerin's chest. The room was quiet, save for the soft sounds of their breathing and the distant chirping of birds outside.

As Danielle calmed down, she pulled away slightly, just enough to look up at Haerin. Their eyes met, and for a moment, they simply stared at each other, an unspoken connection passing between them. Danielle's gaze dropped to Haerin's lips, and Haerin found herself doing the same.

"Dani," Haerin whispered, her voice husky with emotion. "You're so beautiful... May I kiss you?"

Danielle's heart fluttered at the question. She nodded, her consent given without hesitation. As their lips met, the kiss was soft and gentle at first, a tender exploration of each other's feelings. But as the moments passed, the kiss deepened, growing more passionate as their emotions took over.

Haerin held Danielle close, her hands gently caressing her back as the kiss intensified. She slowly trailed her lips down from Danielle's mouth to her jaw, then further down to her neck. Danielle's breath hitched as Haerin's lips found a sensitive spot, and she instinctively clutched at Haerin's shoulders.
