INTRODUCTION

“Allie, we’re going to be gone for six months, are you sure you’re going to be alright?” Allie’s mother, Kimberly, asked her hand placed on her suitcases.  Allie nods boredly, watching her parents prepare for their trip.

“Yes, mom, I’ll be fine.  I’m seventeen, not twelve,” Allie says with a reassuring smile.  Her mom examines her face before nodding.

“I love you, be good,” Kimberly says pecking her daughter on the cheek.  Allie kisses her mom back and hugs her.

“See you in six months, have fun,” Allie says, watching her walk out the door.

“Well, kiddo, don’t be afraid to call your aunt if you need anything, and I stashed some money in the coffee can on top of the fridge,” Allie’s father, Aaron, says with a wink. “Don’t tell your mom.”

Allie had to laugh as she hugged her dad.  He was probably the best father around, in her eyes.

“Alright dad, thanks again,” Allie says with a smile.  He grins.  “Love you!”

“See you later kid, don’t have to many parties while we’re gone,” Aaron says, waving as he walks out the door, shutting it behind him.

Allie stands in the same spot, until she see’s the taxi drive away.  After a few more minutes she grins.

“Thank freakin’ god, I’m home alone!” Allie shouts fist pumping the air.  She grins and runs up the stairs.

After safetly clearing the staircase, she turns to her room, grabs her blankets and pillows, before running to the staircase railing.  She tosses it all down, watching it land on the couch. She nods and smiles, turning her back to the staircase,

“What else, what else..?” Allie ponders, shifting her weight from one foot to the other, her dark green eyes scanning the hallways.  She sighs and runs a hand through her medium, straight dark red/brown hair, before taking a step back.

Allie blinks as she feels her body tilt back.

“A-Ahh?!” Allie shouts, as her back slams against the staircase, her head cracking off of the edge of a stair.  She cries out, as she slides down the stairs on her back, before doing a painful backwards summersault onto the landing.

She groans as the pain courses through her body.  She feels her arms tingling as she slowly closes her eyes, being enclosed in darkness.
