My thoughts were scattered as I felt the limousine smoothly making its way to our destination. The comfort of the seats allowed me to relax for most of the trip, even though I used this "rest" time for some personal reflection.

My mind was focused on where we were headed: Kodo Ikusei, a prestigious academy known for its 100% success rate in placing students in top universities or careers. It was the dream of any parent or high schooler to have such an opportunity.

However, the academy was also incredibly mysterious. Any attempts to find information online or through other means proved futile. Even hacking into their data was virtually impossible, with multiple layers of sophisticated security measures, often overseen by just a few individuals.

Despite my efforts to dig up more significant documents, I found nothing. The academy had left no exploitable gaps. I had a general idea of how things worked there, but it was all speculation—I needed concrete evidence.

Lost in thought, I felt a sharp pain on my right cheek—someone was pinching me. I opened my eyes to see who it was and found Hiiragi Nana, one of my comrades, staring back at me.

"What is it?" I asked, my gaze questioning.

"Why are you pretending to sleep?" she replied, answering my question with another.

As their leader, such bold responses were rather irritating, but I should’ve been stricter with them from the start.

"I was thinking. You could also say I was meditating," I explained, resting my fingers on my chin, trying to make sense of what I was doing myself.

I could have also said there was no particular reason behind my actions.

A soft chuckle came from the seat in front of me. "So, what were you thinking about?"

The one asking was Senku, another comrade. We were good friends, though he could be annoying at times.

I glanced up, observing the luxurious interior of the limousine we were in.

"Why did Father want us to come here?" I asked, sharing the question that had been plaguing me for a while. It was the most pressing issue on my mind, as I tried to understand the reasons behind his decision.

He already had immense control over Japan and influence in other countries. The institutions he had created numbered in the hundreds. He was a monster, one of the strongest that ever existed.

"Maybe he wants to be number one," Aizen suggested, sitting closest to the window, the wind tousling his hair.

"That would make sense, but it would've been more logical to send us to challenge Britannia rather than attending a high school," I countered Aizen's reasoning.

"The most important thing isn’t understanding his true intentions, but the reward if we succeed—he promised to grant each of us a wish," Anos stated, sitting across from Aizen.

Everyone fell into a deep silence, though it was clear we all had a specific wish we wanted to fulfill.

In my case, I just wanted to leave the Foundation. I could still help them from time to time, but I really wanted to be free to make my own future decisions.

To have a family, some kids, and live peacefully until my death—that would be my ideal life.

"We can be sure he won’t betray us; he’s too afraid to become our enemy. But I’ll personally stay with the Foundation," Enoshima said, playing with a... knife?

Where did she find that? And what does she plan to do with it?

I knew she was too skilled to accidentally cut herself, but it was still unsettling to see someone so mentally unstable with a deadly weapon.
