Mackenzie
I scrubbed and scrubbed at my skin. Tears rolled down my cheeks and the water burned.
But I didn't care.
I had to get rid of his scent.
I didn't want to - it was the only comfort I had. But it was too dangerous.
So I burned and scrubbed until there was nothing left of him on me.
And let the ache in my heart destroy me. It was the only private place I had to let everything get to me.
As soon as I left the bathroom, I knew I had to have my mask back on. I had to keep it together and survive.
I had always survived. I could do it. But it was still fucking hard.
It made me think about leaving, whether I could or not.
But I would be hunted, on the run for the rest of my life. I couldn't subject my child to that.
No, the only thing I could do was take Cerberus down. No more running.
I strengthened my resolve, scrubbed away the weakness that Ryken brought out in me then dried my tears.
I was Mackenzie Murlow. A survivor. I could outlast Cerberus Storm.
With that in mind, I dried, dressed, and made my way to the laundry room. It was my second home.
The pack went through a lot of clothes and I was expected to clean them all.
There used to be a roster. But now there was a runt.
That was me. The runt. It had a ring to it. Well, Cerberus thought so.
But to me? It was fuel for the raging fire of hatred in my heart for him.
The laundry room was downstairs in the coldest part of the pack house. It was all stone with barely any lights. I was sure Cerberus had them broken just for me.
I made my way down the steps, pausing when I saw the third machine occupied.
By two betas fucking.
They were going at it hard enough to shake the machine.
I cleared my throat but that earned me a snarl so I moved around them.
I unloaded the machine next to them, avoiding a leg that splayed out in my way.
I shuffled the basket over to the dryer and lifted the load into it. I had just switched it on, squealing when the couple slammed into it next to me.
The guy grinned, winking as he fucked his partner into the dryer I had just turned on.
She cried out as he buried himself deep inside her.
"Want to join, hybrid? I can share," he smirked.
I shook my head and left the room fast.
Cerberus had promised I wouldn't be touched but the wolves liked to test that boundary and I had a feeling that if one of them tried something, he wouldn't rush to stop them.
I ran up the stairs, slamming straight into Arlo at the top of them.
"Woah," he caught me before I tumbled back.
"Arlo," I breathed, "I wouldn't. The laundry room is currently being scandalized."
"I was actually coming to find you. Do you have a minute?" he asked.
It was a fair question. And the easy answer was no. I never had a minute. Cerberus made sure I had enough chores to make Cinderella's job look easy.
I wasn't allowed to go to bed until it was all done or I was whipped. So far, I had made sure not to give him the satisfaction but it was getting harder.
