Ryken
"You're not going to walk away from this arena if you let this happen," I snarled at my father, standing, my fists clenched.
I couldn't defeat him, he had too many betas backing him. They were too riled up, too excited to taste what wasn't theirs. Something about a forbidden hybrid had them all forgetting who they were.
Or maybe it was who they were now and I had missed it.
If they condoned what my father was pushing then they were not the wolves I once knew.
"Oh, you think you could stop me?" He raised a brow at me amidst the cheering.
I didn't look at Mackenzie. I couldn't see her tied to that post with only her underwear on. The wolves who were meant to be her family all throwing howls at her, and taunting her like they had any right to her.
"No. Otherwise I would have already stopped you. But I will make it to her in time. She will get away, I'll make sure of it," I said forcefully.
My father knew I wasn't bluffing. No part of me could sit and watch something so vial. I didn't give a shit what he thought he was teaching as a lesson.
Whether Mackenzie was my mate or not. We should not be these kinds of wolves.
"And what would you have me do, Ryken? Let a hybrid runt walk around disrespecting me? Let her think she is untouchable and unsusceptible to the rules like the rest of you?" My father challenged.
"Anything but this," I argued.
"Gregor. Odessa. What is your take on this?" Cerberus offered like the matter was up for discussion. In my mind, it wasn't.
She was not being a toy for the wolves to chew on and spit out more broken than she already was. They had done enough to her, she had suffered enough.
She was still fucking suffering.
"Well, I was quite excited to see what the runt could handle," Odessa admitted, smiling as evilly as her daughter.
"What would you normally do to her?" Gregor considered.
"A whipping. 50 lashes at least," Cerberus grinned.
"And you cannot for the child. I understand this. We were very careful when we had the scientists help Odessa carry. But, the runt must be punished. It is a predicament, Cerberus," Gregor said slowly like he was weighing up his options.
"One I would consider your opinion on to salvage this alliance," Cerberus kissed his ass and I sneered.
Fuck their alliance.
Monsters, both of them.
My mind was already racing. This pack was done. It was his. There wasn't a single face that wasn't screaming for my mate like she was theirs. Like she deserved what she was about to be put through.
It was not the pack that deserved the future I wanted for them.
It was that easy to switch gears in my head.
I had wanted so much for them, the goals I'd nurtured for everything Cerberus wasn't, slowly crumbled away and then there was only one answer.
I had to work with the faction to eradicate my father and his pack. His alliance too.
Even if Mackenzie and I were the only ones left. Viking and Hope too. They could be our pack, we could create something-
"So she has a champion. Someone to take the lashes for her. She looks like one of those bleeding heart types. It'll crush her spirit to see another whipped for her," Gregor grinned.
