"I have no idea why he's acting so..."

"Annoying? Controlling? Weird?"

"Protective. Overprotective."

"Ah", Leah takes a sip from her latté.

We're sitting at the cafe.

Having a little coffee date.

"Ever since we went to our first ultrasound, he's been acting that way."

"But hasn't he always been protective over you?"

"He has. And I love that. He always takes such good care of me."

"What's the problem then?"

"He's acting off. It's not like him to be so... afraid and worried. He always trusted God that He's with me too."

She analyzes my eyes, "are you saying he's slipping away from God?"

I slowly lick over my lip.

Is he?

No, that can't be it.

He's reading the Bible every morning and evening.

Praying with me.

Nothing has changed about his faith.

"No, that's not it. He's the same about his faith. Even more faithful than before."

Leah takes another sip.

I look down at her glass.

"It all started with his talk with my doctor."

"El."

I meet her eyes, "he went with me to every ultrasound this pregnancy. Every single appointment."

"Because he cares about you, sweetie", she lays her hand on mine on the table.

"But he", I exhale sharply, "he's acting off. It's unlike him."

Leah bites down on her lower lip.

I swallow.

That can't be it.

Can it?

He would never do that.

Never.

Not ever.

He loves me.

He loves God.

He wouldn't.

"What are you saying?", she takes a sip.

I meet her gaze again, "I think he's cheating on me."

Leah almost chokes on her coffee.

I pat her back, "Leah!"

"Are you crazy?", she looks at me, "he would never cheat. He loves Jesus. He loves you."

"But why is he—"

"Hey sweetheart", a voice says from behind.

I turn my head around.

It's Mark.

"Hey El."

"Hi Mark."

He walks over to Leah and pecks her head.

They're engaged since a few months.

But they wanted to take it slow.

Leah wanted to take it slow.
