Love interest time! >:p no spoilers, but if you're worried, NO. I did NOT make her witness a crime and get kidnapped so she wouldn't snitch, I'm not an animal. :^ I AM an angst guru though. Let's see if that means what you THINK it means. XD

I ran downstairs in a hurry, screaming— so much screaming— why was there screaming!?
I bolted to the door, hopping in my slip-on's and grabbing a coat. By the time I was out of the stone walkway, I had a jacket halfway on, a medical kit just in case, and a fearful expression on my face.
I rushed through the streets towards wherever the screaming was coming from— and then I saw it.
The town library. on Fire. Right in front of me.
I ran around, looking to see if I could help with anything. I'm not the best at it, but I know enough first aid to save someone's life if it really called for it, so maybe I could assist with some minor burns or something like that.
There was a girl— about six or seven years old if I were to guess. She had some bleeding minor burns on her arms and legs and she was crying hysterically.
I rushed over to her side and tried to calm her down so I could see if her parents were around.
"Hey, hey, sweetie. Can you look at me?" I prodded, opening my med kit.
The young girl sniffed, tried to wipe her nose with her lightly burned hand, and looked up at me.
I tucked a piece of her light blonde hair behind her ear and wiped a tear from her cheek. "Can you tell me your name?" She blinked at me with her honey brown eyes and spoke in a small and shaky voice. "S-Sophie." She whimpered quietly.
I pulled out some anti-septic cleansing spray from the small medical kit and started preparing a small wad of cloth. "Okay Sophie, this might sting a bit." I pressed the small newly-made cleansing pad into her left leg.
She sobbed a bit louder. "Alright, sweetheart, can you tell me how old you are?" I asked, wincing at her yelps.
She sniffled again. "S-si-six." Oh god..
Then I heard sirens. "Okay, Sophie, do you hear that?" I asked, finishing up with cleaning her legs as I moved up to her hands. "That's the sound of help. Can you hold on until then?" She sobbed and looked at me. "O-o-okay." She choked out softly.
I cleansed her hands and arms as best as I could and got some anti-septic gauze to wrap them.
"Alright, alright, almost done. The cops are coming soon anyway." I muttered to her, finishing up with the Bandages.
The crackling of fire in the background made it pretty hard to focus at all, but I got it done.
Then the first responders showed up.
"Okay, Sophie, I gotta go now. But when the people in the yellow coats ask you how you got better, tell them Y/N helped you. Okay?" I said to her, looking deep into her eyes.
"O-okay." She sniffled quietly. I wiped a tear from her eyes and stood up.
And I walked away.

Exhausted from running all 5 blocks to the library, spending 20-30 minutes helping a child and cleaning her wounds, and walking all the way back here on foot, I collapsed onto my bed, coat in hand and ready to sleep.
I stared daggers at the digital alarm clock on my bedside table that read 1:16am.
"ngh, 'inally..." I muttered to myself while dozing off.
