Even without my morning espresso I felt recharged. As though the day had already unfolded into a blissful one.
I stretched my arms over my head in an arc, then hopped up, disturbing Oscar only in the slightest, a rough meow good morning in answer. The shower I took was the perfect temperature, and the new rosemary citrus scented body wash only invigorated my senses further.
I was going to call Adele. Excitement overtook me.
I wrapped myself in my favorite furry robe and sat on the couch, typing Adele's name in. I looked the number over twice, making sure it was right, then dialed.
She answered on queue, a slow and sensual, "Hello, Lex."
"Hey, Adele, you were just who I was hoping would answer," I replied, hoping to start things off light, though by the tone in her voice, she showed no signs of disdain. I could practically feel that lopsided, borderline presumptuous smile. If only she were closer.
"And you were just who I was hoping would call," She responded with satirical ease. I couldn't help my lips lift.
"Listen, what if we both take it easy today, and spend the day together?" I questioned.
"And what do you have in mind?" She inquired back.
Even though I hadn't thought that far ahead, it didn't matter, I just wanted to see her. A moment of silence passed, as I lost track of the seconds, until she said,
"How about my place?"
I agreed full heartedly.

Her address wasn't far, just like most anywhere in the city wasn't far, but she insisted that she order me a cab, so I obliged.
I didn't expect a black luxury vehicle to pick me up, but lo and behold there it was. I stared at it for far too long before the window drew down and a woman with black frames on said, "Lex?" I jumped when she said this, nearly tripping over, then scurried to the car in my black velour platform heels, pulling myself in.
The driver was silent throughout the ride, even when we arrived, she just stopped the vehicle and waited for me to recognize the address.
The house was vast in size. The outside wood panels were stained so dark they were almost black but it didn't look goth, just very clean with brown accents.
I stepped from the vehicle, then headed up the stairs. I was in awe. A house this massive in the city must have cost a fortune, and although it made sense, I had no idea what to expect to begin with. The details, like the wooden pillars and wide porch, were simple but done with precision, and I loved it.
I couldn't even knock before the door swung open, showing Adele in a tight fitted black cami dress. A small slit ran up her right thigh, just enough to make anyone look, and I fell for it, chills running up my spine. I brought my eyes back to attention, just to catch her staring at me with adoration. A glint in her eyes, a smile so soft I wanted to kiss it. She was perfect.
It was in that moment that silence was the most comfortable it had ever felt.
She held one hand out, and I took it, letting her lead me in.
The entrance was grand, the walls painted like melted honey. Paintings that looked like they were done with tea leaves were placed along the walls, all with dark wooden frames. It had an old timey feel with a touch of modern sleek. Somehow it mixed well.
When she guided me through the wide hallway, it opened into an open concept living room and kitchen. The walls transformed from honey to white with dark gray accents. It was so much more than I'd been able to imagine. The marble countertop to the left looked like it was built for a professional chef, stainless steel pots and pans hanging stylishly above it.
