When did it go wrong?

Which character did I possess?

I didn't know.

All questions considered, my biggest concern was being stranded on a remote island with the male leads from the novel, 《Something More Important Than Survival》.

Yeah, life was made up of damned timing.

                                 ***

When I opened my eyes, I found myself faced with a serene, clear sky, and then I heard the sound of crashing waves. I sat up after coming to my senses, only for the humid air to slam into my face. Suppressing a grimace, I carefully scanned my surroundings.

"Where am I?"

I was lying on a beach bountiful in palm trees with the ocean lapping under my feet. This was a strange sight. It looked nothing like Korea.

A gradual hopelessness overcame me as I realized I was nowhere close to home and alone. I anxiously rubbed my temples and continued looking for anything or anyone familiar.

"Who is this?"

A stranger lied next to me. He was wearing a colorful uniform, a contrast to his beautiful hair which resembled the night sky. I turned the man onto his back by the shoulder to check his identity and was immediately assaulted with tinnitus and a sharp headache.

"Ugh." Dizzy from the mixture of sensations, I hung my head.

Memories of a woman's life ran through my mind, a woman named Lilianne Rose Floné. The recollections mingled with my own, as if I was the original Lilianne , and I accepted them without any hesitation.

After an indefinite time passed, the ringing and flood of memories stopped, and I came to a startling realization: Prince Jaxon, Langridge Empire, Duke Floné. These names and titles were familiar.

This was the beginning of my predicament.

I remember picking up a novel on the streets a while back. I had become absorbed with the story and created a terrible habit of reading it everywhere I went.

The story began with the characters waking up on an enchanted island. There was the female lead, a wonderful saint, and five male leads of high statuses, ranging from the empire’s crown prince, the archwizard, to the archbishop. The author vividly described their year-long survival on an uninhabited island as a disaster. And while the novel was titled 《Something More Important Than Survival》, it made one wonder: what could be more important than survival in an R19 novel? There wasn’t any need for an explanation.

All these characters were winsome, but they weren’t the only ones on the island. The villainess, lilianne, was also with them. She bore no worth to anyone and only served as a hindrance, thus the suitors banded together to kill her off.

Saint Elice Lucy monopolized everyone’s love, and lilianne was jealous of her. Stuck on a remote island and on the brink of insanity, it was only a matter of time before the male leads discovered lilianne was a threat to the saint and got rid of her, an event that occurred in the middle of the story.

I had desperately wanted to finish the novel and was oblivious to my surroundings while taking a walk. I stopped right under a damaged sign, which broke off from its place and fell on me. The impact must have killed me.

To make matters worse, I seemed to have reincarnated as the ill-fated villainess of the erotic, fantasy romance novel, and the story was about to begin.

“What the hell…..?”

I stared at the man in disbelief, as I was able to put a name to his face: Jaxon Aster Klaus Langridge.

He was the crown prince of the Langridge Empire and the main love interest. While all the male leads hated Lilianne, Prince Jaxon despised her tenfold.

Damn it, why did I have to be stuck with this man?

“Ugh.” Suddenly, a faint groan left Jaxon’s mouth.

My heart erupted as he showed signs of regaining consciousness. If I wasn’t dreaming and truly possessed Lilianne, I had to hide from this man, or my blood would be on his hands. I needed to find a haven before attempting to look for a mysterious ‘door’, the only escape off this island. It was meant to open in a year, leaving me plenty of time to search for it.

I quickly scanned my outfit. How lucky I was to be wearing an indoor dress instead of a flimsy nightgown. Lilianne’s taste was on the minimal spectrum, so I was fortunate it wasn’t more of a lavish dress for outings. I also wore flat shoes, which would be easier to walk around in.

I glared at the dense forest about twenty paces away from me. It was full of unknown dangers, but wouldn’t I have better odds in there than surviving with a man who hated me, not knowing when I would die?

After making a quick decision, I rose to set off.

At least, I attempted to, and I would have made it had it not been for the large hand grabbing my ankle. As soon as I took one step, I immediately hit the sand.

“Lilianne?”

With my foot in hand, Jaxon raised his head and frowned.

I shouldn’t have been surprised my plan failed. Life truly was made up of damned timing.
