'Dark red' - Steve lacy

'Something bad is'bout to happen to me'

"That damn kid, always messing with my head." Murphy says as he throw at knife poorly at the tree

I snicker at his attempt and he shoots me an unserious glare

"He's not gonna last much longer. Better think of a new excuse." Bellamy says throwing an axe and landing it in the tree "That's how it's done." he says gloating

"Not bad." I say impressed

"We searched a half-mile all directions. No sign of Trina or Pascal." atom says as him and the gang walk up to us

"Visit your special tree when you were out there?" he says earning a glare from Bellamy and a slap in the torso from me

"Atom took his punishment. Let it go."

"Could be Grounders." i say

"Yeah, or they could be in pound town. Lot of that going around recently." Murphy says jerking his eyebrows up and down and trying around to face me.

I responded by simply flipping him off and he turns back. A moan echos around camp

"Look, Bellamy, people are scared, and that dying kid, he's not helping the morale around here." atom says

"Morale will go up when I find them more food." bellamy says with a determined and smug look

I step forward, positioning myself between murphy and bellamy to make sure I have Bellamy's attention. I look directly at him and ask, "And what do we say when they ask about Trina and Pascal?"

"Now?" he angles himself toward me and get closer to me. "Nothing. It's possible they're just lost. We'll keep an eye out for them when we go hunting later."

"Let's go kill something." Murphy says hyped

"You're not going. I need you to stay here. If the Grounders are circling, we can't leave this place unprotected." Bellamy says

"Shh.... She's mine." Bellamy says shushing everyone

A twig snaps behind us as Bellamy throws his axe. We all turn to see the axe hit a tree no more than half and inch away from a little girls head

"Maybe your not as good as u thought you where" I say as I walk up to the little girl with Bellamy hot on my trail

"Who the hell are you?" I ask

"Charlotte" the little girl says

"I almost killed you." Bellamy says pulling at his axe getting it out of the tree

"Key word almost" I say sarcasticly

"Why aren't you back at camp?"

"Well, what with that guy who was dying, I just... I couldn't listen anymore."

"There's Grounders out here. It's too dangerous for a little girl." I say

"I'm not little." Charlotte says

"what ever you say short bug" I joke

"Okay, then" Bellamy says pulling a knife out of his pocket "But you can't hunt without a weapon. Ever killed something before?"

Charlotte shakes her head

"Who knows? Maybe you're good at it." he says and gives her the knife

I draw back and hurl my knife with precision at a small fox darting through the underbrush. The blade finds its mark, and the fox collapses lifelessly onto the ground.

"Not too bad," Bellamy's voice comes from behind me, his tone carrying a mix of approval and casual teasing.

"Like you could do any better," I retort, turning to offer him a knife.

Just as I extend the knife toward him, a blaring horn sounds in the distance, its sharp blast cutting through the calm.

"What is that?" I exclaim, instinctively bringing my hands to my ears and bending over in discomfort.

I straighten up, the noise still ringing in my ears, and notice a disturbing sight: yellowish smoke is advancing toward our group, creeping in like an unwelcome specter.

My curiosity overcomes my initial shock, and I walk hesitantly toward the ominous smoke. As I reach out to touch it, a sudden jolt of stinging, burning pain surges up my arm and races down my spine. The sensation is so intense that I can't contain a scream that echoes my agony. The pain overwhelms me, and I collapse slightly, barely able to support myself as the excruciating pain grips my body.

*Bellamys POV*

I watch in horror as Tillie reaches out toward the smoke. She immediately screams in pain and collapses. I rush to catch her before she hits the ground, cradling her gently. As I help her back onto her feet, I notice she's still conscious but trembling slightly. She's clearly shaken and in pain, but with my support, she manages to stay upright

We start to run, but Charlotte, Tillie, and I get separated from the rest of the group. Atom trails closely behind us, but I suddenly hear a loud thud followed by the sound of him hitting the ground.

"BELLAMY" he scream

I push Charlotte in front of me, urging her into a small cave. I momentarily let go of Tillie, and she stumbles as the smoke starts to reach her. She screams in pain and collapses, falling into me. We both tumble to the ground inside the cave, where the smoke can't reach us. The cave offers a brief respite, allowing us to catch our breath and recover from the suffocating smoke outside.

*MATILDAS POV*

As we tumble into the cave, the sudden shift from the smoky chaos outside is disorienting. I land awkwardly on top of Bellamy, and my heart races as I realize how close we are. My face burns with embarrassment, and I feel every awkward press of our bodies against each other.

I try to push myself off Bellamy, but our movements are clumsy and uncoordinated. I can't avoid the sensation of his hands brushing against mine, adding to my discomfort. Bellamy shifts beneath me, and I glimpse his flushed face, mirroring my own unease.

After a few moments that feel like an eternity, we finally manage to untangle ourselves. The cave's dim light casts long shadows, amplifying the awkwardness of our recent proximity. The silence that follows is heavy with unspoken tension, making the cave feel even more confined and uncomfortable.
