Chapter 4:

An Unexpected Situation

The evening had settled into a calm rhythm at UConn. Paige was lounging in her dorm room, catching up on some reading and enjoying the quiet. The day at the beach had been a turning point, and the easy camaraderie she had developed with Dior was something she was still processing.

Dior had come by to return a book she had borrowed from Paige earlier. She had intended to drop it off and head back to her own room, but when she entered Paige's room, she found Paige stretched out on the bed, looking relaxed and content.

"Hey, I just wanted to drop this off," Dior said, holding up the book.

Paige looked up, her eyes lighting up with a friendly smile. "Thanks! You can just leave it on the desk. Are you okay? How's the knee?"

Dior winced slightly as she moved towards the desk, her knee still giving her some trouble. "It's getting better, but it's still a bit sore. I thought I'd just relax a bit."

A Playful Misstep

As Dior tried to navigate around Paige's bed to reach the desk, she misjudged her step and nearly lost her balance. She caught herself, but in the process, she ended up accidentally climbing onto the bed beside Paige. The proximity was unexpected, and both of them froze for a moment, their eyes locking.

Paige's heart skipped a beat as she looked up at Dior, their faces inches apart. Dior's knee, still causing her some discomfort, made the situation even more awkward. As she tried to shift her weight to avoid putting pressure on her knee, she nearly toppled onto Paige.

Instinctively, Paige reached out and grabbed Dior's waist, pulling her gently to steady her. "Careful there," Paige said, her voice soft and slightly teasing.

Dior, feeling the warmth of Paige's hands on her waist, tried to regain her balance. "Sorry, I didn't mean to—" she began, but her words were interrupted as she looked back at Paige, both of them now in a surprisingly intimate position.

An Unfortunate Discovery

At that moment, Nika and Kk happened to be walking by Paige's room. The door was slightly ajar, and they caught sight of the scene unfolding inside. Their eyes widened in shock as they saw Dior straddling Paige, their faces close and their expressions caught in a moment of surprise.

Kk's jaw dropped, and Nika's eyes widened as they exchanged incredulous glances. They had not expected to see this side of the story—one that seemed to suggest a level of intimacy they hadn't anticipated.

Dior, noticing their presence, turned her head sharply and saw Nika and Kk standing in the doorway. Panic flashed across her face. "I was just moving to the other side!" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with embarrassment.

Awkward Reactions

Nika and Kk's faces were a mixture of confusion and disappointment. They groaned in unison, their initial shock quickly giving way to a sense of frustration. The thought that Dior and Paige might have been caught in a compromising situation was hard for them to shake off.

"Seriously?" Kk muttered, her tone laced with a hint of annoyance. "We thought—never mind."

Nika shook her head, her expression a mix of concern and resignation. "You guys could've given us a bit of warning."

Paige, now fully aware of the misunderstanding, tried to diffuse the situation. "It's not what it looks like," she said, trying to sound reassuring. "Dior was just losing her balance. We were just trying to steady each other."

Clearing the Air

Dior nodded vigorously, her cheeks still flushed with embarrassment. "Yeah, exactly. My knee's just been acting up, and I didn't mean for it to look—"

Kk and Nika exchanged one more look before Kk sighed and said, "Alright, alright. We'll leave you two to it."

With that, they walked away, their footsteps echoing down the hall. The door slowly closed, leaving Paige and Dior alone again. The tension in the room was palpable, both girls trying to recover from the awkward moment.

Paige let out a soft laugh, breaking the silence. "Well, that was something."

Dior, still blushing, managed a small smile. "Yeah, definitely not how I planned to end my day."

As they both settled into a more comfortable position, the intimacy of the moment lingered, but the awkwardness had begun to fade. The incident had brought them even closer, their shared embarrassment creating a new layer to their evolving relationship.
