Falling for You
As we're standing here and you hold my hand,
Pull me towards you and we start to dance,
All around us I see nobody,
Here in silence it's just you and me,
And I'm trying not to tell you....
Misaki Kurosawa nearly thought that she'd traveled back in time the night of her high schools ten year reunion. Yes, it had been ten years already since she'd graduated and moved to America with the rest of her family. Now back in Japan, she was only too happy to forget the events of years past and reconnect with her old friends. A high school reunion was the perfect opportunity for that.
The school had outdone themselves. The decision was made to emulate prom of their senior year, and everything looked just as it had then, minus the obnoxious teenagers and plus some obnoxious adults. Right down to the streamers and ridiculously huge ice sculptures. They had chosen more modern music- figuring that nostalgia only went so far to keep one entertained.
And just like that night, at 7:32 pm, she turned towards the entryway of the gymnasium, (this time just remembering the best part of that night a decade ago) and saw him. She couldn't believe it. Honestly, it was too amazing to be coincidence. Across the crowded room of people who'd never spared her a second glance, through the dimmed blue lights and shining spotlights, she found Hatori Sohma standing between the other two members of the Mabudachi trio, Shigure and Ayame Sohma. She had been so shocked back then, and even now, that they would show up as she had noticed they avoided physical contact with females- which dancing sort of required. But unlike that night, Kana wasn't on his arm and she hated how that made her heart do a happy little flip. Like a great deal of the people tonight, the trio had brought guests. As the new nurse at this school, she knew them. Kyo and Yuki Sohma had already paid several visits to her despite the fact that she'd worked here for only a week. Hatsuharu, too, had graced her with his presence due to Kyo's temper. Oddly enough, though she usually found herself disliking the students who picked fights, she found herself sympathetic to Kyo.
An elbow nudged her gently in the side and she looked to her right to see her cousin Nori gazing at her with a gentle smile and dirty blond bangs half-hiding the mischievous look in his brown eyes. Beside him, Daiki didn't bother to hide the impish grin on his face. It was the gentler of the two who spoke. “Dai, tune down the creeper grin. Misaki, why don't we go talk to them this time?”
“I...”
“Come on, you're not a shy little teenager anymore!” Daiki exclaimed, “You've got experience under your belt now!”
She nibbled her lower lip and crossed her arms. “Need I remind you that the entirety of that experience was a nightmare?”
“Oh come on, he is not Samuel the Jackass.”
“He's right, you know. Look, we'll go with you. It'll be fine.”
“I'm not getting out of this one am I?”
“Not again, you aren't.”
“Wait, come with me.” Daiki pulled her behind a false pillar so that they wouldn't be seen before expertly plucking the bobby-pins from her up-do, which had been rather dull even to her own eyes, and combing his fingers quickly through the loosened dark-chocolate colored waves. “And just like that, BOOM, instant knock-out.”
“Really?”
She had worn a rather simple little-black-dress, but she figured it did look good on her. It was form fitting with a low but modest square neck-line and sheer off the shoulder sleeves. It reached an inch above her knees but she suddenly found herself wishing it was longer, without the little side-slit that went up to mid thigh on her left side.
