Togruta: The Togruta are a sentient humanoid species hailing from the planet Shili, in the Expansion Region. Although Shili is their homeworld, they also have a colony of some 50,000 individuals on the planet Kiros. Their skin pigment spans a vast array of colors, including, but not limited to, orange, red, white, and yellow. These characteristics were a result of evolution; Togruta coloration is helpful as a method of camouflage from predators. Unlike most humanoids, Togrutas are known to have multiple stomachs. Their most notable features are the white facial markings and the large organic head formations upon their heads: two large cone-like horns called montrals atop their skull; and three lekku, also known as headtails, that sprout downward. Both a Togruta's lekku and montrals tend to grow until they reach maturity, with females generally having longer lekku than the males. The male's montrals, however, are more branched than the females. The Togruta's montrals serve as the auditory system and allow them to sense the movement of objects around them through echolocation. Their echolocation evolved to aid them in hunting and is extremely powerful. They can sense up to 82 feet (25 meters). Togrutas are also known to have 6 holes (3 on each side), right where the lekku meet the jawline. The purpose of these external holes is unknown, but is implied to be ears based on their location. The Togruta's habitats are usually in mountainous and elevated areas. One instance of this was the Togruta immigrants on the colonies on Kiros, which were built on the cliffs. These homes were built in the pursuit of art and beauty. Togruta generally speak both English/Basic and their native language, Togruti. Members of the species, particularly those from Shili, are fiercely protective of their world and its surrounding moons, and they regard the ground beneath their feet as sacred. Because of this, a number of Togruta elect to remain barefoot, only wearing boots while off-world. A government of the Togruta was established on Shili, and can be led by a queen. A queen of the Togruta government on Shili is also bestowed the titles of Regasa of Shili, Supreme Huntress of the United Tribes, and Ruler of Togrutas. The government consists of the Togruta military and the Togruta guard. The Royal Togruta Fleet consists of many Togruta warships, and the military forces are additionally bolstered by the intelligence services and the security council. The Togruta maintain a royal court, and the government employs the position of ambassador and multiple ministers. Conversely, the Togruta on the artisan colony on Kiros built their society without weapons, choosing instead to pursue art and beauty rather than war. Shili is known to produce famously melodramatic holovids. One of the signs in Shili's zodiac system is called Ai. Its traits are wisdom, charisma, and exceptional virility.
