I woke up to the soft rays of sunlight filtering through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room. As I blinked away the remnants of sleep, my gaze fell on Edogawa, still peacefully sleeping beside me. His hair was slightly tousled, and his expression was serene, a rare sight given his usual sharp and energetic demeanor.
A smile tugged at my lips as I leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on his lips. It was a brief, tender moment, and I couldn't help but feel a flutter of affection in my chest. Just as I was about to pull away, I heard his sleepy voice mumble.
"Hmm... what was that for, Y/N?"
Startled, I met his half-opened eyes, a playful smirk appearing on his face. I shook my head, trying to hide my surprise.
"Nothing. Just a morning kiss, I guess?" I replied with a soft laugh.
He chuckled, his smirk growing more mischievous. "A morning kiss, huh?" His voice was still husky from sleep, and it made my heart skip a beat.
I quickly got up from the bed, trying to shake off the warmth spreading through me.
"I'll just get our breakfast ready." I said, heading towards the door. He grunted in response and snuggled deeper into the covers, clearly not ready to leave the comfort of the bed just yet.
As I made my way to the kitchen, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself. Edogawa must have been really exhausted after the intense case we handled last night. It wasn't often that he allowed himself to rest so deeply.
I decided to make pancakes, something simple and comforting. The smell of cooking batter filled the air, and I found myself humming a tune as I worked. After a while, I called out to him, expecting to hear his familiar footsteps approaching.
But there was no response.
"Ranpo, breakfast is ready!" I called out again, but still nothing. I shook my head with a smile. He was probably too comfortable to move. I decided to go back to the room and drag him out myself if I had to.
When I opened the door, I froze.
There, sitting in the middle of the bed, was a small boy. He was wearing Edogawa's clothes, but they were far too big for him, making the outfit look oversized and comically large on his tiny frame. His eyes were wide with curiosity as he tilted his head to look at me.
"Who.....are you?" he asked in a small, innocent voice.
I stood there, completely dumbfounded. My mind raced, trying to process what I was seeing. "What the heck?" I thought, my heart pounding in my chest. This couldn't be happening. Where was Edogawa? And who was this child?
The boy continued to stare at me, his expression a mix of confusion and curiosity. I had no idea how to respond. I was still trying to wrap my head around the situation. Everything about this felt surreal, like I was caught in some strange dream.
